Free (really) CADD, 2D, but looks good-LINUX and Gatesian OSes-AutoSketch-like

Hey,

Re:

DraftSight 2D CADD drafting program.

http://www.3ds.com/products/draftsight/free-cad-software/

The collaborators of Solid Works, CATIA, (Dessault, et al) have
introduced this low overhead (RAM/CPU) 2D drafting program. Lke
AutoCAD Auto Sketch, way more industrial (real world) than Google
SketchUp.

No limitations and a open source support approach.
FREE!

Bear with my very, very, recent review and quickly saying this is a
goodie, but I find it having plenty of power, with low overhead,
Plus cross-platform file format transfer of .dwg, dxf, etc.

Have not tried Linux version yet.
Does not eat a lot of disk space, and quick install.

touchpad in linux

The feature is the problem ...

The feature is the "scroll" area(s) on the touch pad (or more likely, in
the touch pad software/configuration?)
Is there a way to eliminate this feature ... perhaps by reducing the
size of the "area(s)" to the point of non-existence?

Various searches so far have only yielded the usual "how to set up a
touch pad/mouse" stuff, which never even seem to mention the idea of a
"scroll area(s)", or (oh, joy!) a "right click" area.

Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to offer

Re: White Space

It's not a question of whether this will increase the noise
level. It will. By it's nature it is impossible to not
increase the noise level. And that definitely will degrade
all signals sharing the band. (Which is pretty much everybody.)
The only question is whether the degradation will be enough
that you will notice.

It's like someone whispering during a college lecture.
The sound goes everywhere in the room. Most people
can ignore it. Some may have more difficulty. If
the whispering is quieter fewer will be bothered.
But all experience some degradation. And if half the
people in the hall are whispering it becomes very
noticeable.

Well it's already a issue due to unlicensed wireless MIC's using this
spectrum. I've not the 802.22 standard yet. I don't think they set
any power limits in that spec. That's the FCC's job and I've not seen
any power output specs yet. I'm willing to guess it's going to have
the same power restrictions as the ISM band. Added with the
additional GPS receiver so it can pull what channels are in use and go

We run an email list and have weekly meetings to support the use of
GNU/Linux in Eugene, entirely a volunteer effort.
Yes, if and when you wish to announce job openings we'll post your notices.
If members of the list find your announcements objectionable, they'll post
their opposition. We may have banned at least one company when enough raised
objections often enough. That's rare enough I can't remember the company. I
am not sure they were actually banned or that they didn't unsubscribe during
the ensuing flame war. I helped found the list in 1997. Took EUGLUG to the
Oregon Country Fair in 1999. We sometimes mount expeditions to OSCON and
PLUG meetings and such.
I answer this without being at all sure what Thumbtack is. I'm guessing
you're recruiters. Since I had to retire after a stroke (well, two now)
disabled me, I'm not answering on my own behalf.

make question

I've got a make question I'm hoping someone can help me with.

I have three Makefiles

Makefile.a
Makefile.b
and Makefile

Makefile contains all the real targets and the .a and .b files simply export a couple of variables and include Makefile.  I want to eliminate Makefile.a and Makefile.b by performing those exports dynamically based on the chosen target, so "make mytargeta" would replace "make -f Makefile.a mytarget" and "make mytargetb" would replace "make -f Makefile.b mytarget" correspondingly.  I can easily mimic this with a shell script sitting in front of the Makefile, but I'd like to do it using only make if possible.  I'm coming to the conclusion that there's no provision in make for this.  The targets are inherited and fairly complex with multiple levels of inclusion, so just rewriting all the makefiles is out of the question.  Any suggestions?  I may just have to create a "build.sh"  which matches the target given as an argument and invokes make with the correct -f option.
                    -Mike
