Hi everyone,

I have spent the last few monthes, configuring my
new system for video/audio recording..editing
and playback...
I have nearly finished with my work..and the result
is great.....yes...linux is the perfect medium
for media operation...
My HW now is as follow:

Mother Board: MSI 845 EV ( Bus 533)
CPU : Intel Pentium 4  2.4 GHz
MEM: 512 Mbyte DDR PC2100
Modem: Conexant PCI, 56k
Sound: Creative Vibra 128 Live, PCI
Network: 3com 10/100
VGA: NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX 200, 32Mbyte , AGP
Video Capture : Pinnacle DC 10+ , PCI
Fire Wire: Lucent Microelectronics, FW 323, PCI
Sony 52x CDROM DRIVE
Sony CRX175A1  CD Writer

I have installed the MJPEG-TOOLS and created my
own shell scripts, to record avi mjpeg format
at full resolution 768x576  <at> 25fps
and every thing went well without dropping any frames
during the recording process, also I have used xawtv
through my recording script to watch and adjust the
video on fly.
Then I have created another shell script to convert
the mjpeg format to open quicktime, to be able to open
the recorded clips with the Cinelerra.
Of course i have installed the openquicktime libs
and many others ..
Next, I have installed the latest source tarball
of cinelerra, cinelerra-1.1.7, and libmpeg3-1.5.2
and mix2000-1.0.0 and quicktime4linux-2.0.0
and xmovie-1.9.10
configuring them all.. compiling and installing
everything went well..and now my box is complete

Of course I have many other media applications on
my system...like AVIFILE, AVIDEMUX, MPLAYER ,XINE
XMMS, XMORPH, Gsound, ....and many many others

One thing I want to include here is that,
the latest Zoran unified driver for the DC10+ card
is ok, and works well withoutany problem.
Cinelerra, is a beast..you can do anything you
imagine, except the slow motion or fast motion
but you can change the speed with the mjpeg-tools

The newest drivers support only 9.6kbps!!!! Unless u buy it.
You may get a good driver from http://www.olitec.com/ (if u know some 
french). However, if u're buying a new modem, get an external one, or 
one that is certified to work under Linux.
