SCALE 9X: Jane Silber to give one of two keynotes

Keynote speakers finalized: Jane Silber joins Leigh Honeywell as the 2011 SCALE 9X keynoters

LOS ANGELES -- Canonical Chief Executive Officer Jane Silber has been added as a keynote speaker, with
Leigh Honeywell, for the Southern California Linux Expo SCALE 9X in February.

Silber will give her keynote on "Cloud for Human Beings" during SCALE 9x, which runs from Feb. 25-27 in Los Angeles.

"We're fortunate and honored to have a speaker of Jane Silber's caliber joining Leigh Honeywell as the
keynote speakers for SCALE this year," said, Ilan Rabinovitch, the chairperson for SCALE 9X. "These two
outstanding speakers lead an impressive roster of people presenting at SCALE this year."

Silber started her career as a software developer and has continued to rely on that foundation in her years
of business development, strategy, operations and product development experience. She served as
Canonical's Chief Operating Officer from its founding and became its CEO last year.

Her work at Canonical has included leading the Ubuntu One project and ensuring that large organizations
find Ubuntu "enterprise-ready."

Honeywell, co-founder and current president of HackLab TO in Toronto, will speak on "Hackerspaces and
Free Software" in her keynote.

Traditionally, one keynote is given on Saturday and the other on Sunday. The order in which the two keynotes
will take place has yet to be determined, and an announcement will be forthcoming once it is decided.

There are 64 speakers joining Honeywell and Silber in giving
presentations at SCALE. Among the presenters are OpenSUSE's Alan Clark, speaking on the topic "Create
appliances with your own customized Linux OS;" PostgreSQL's Josh Berkus, speaking on "The Elephant
Scales Out;" Cfengine's Mark Burgess, speaking on "The Future of Open Source Configuration
Management;" and Meego advocate Quim Gil, who will speak
on "The Foundations of the Meego Project."
