Sorry. I have been very busy. I will host it this week in its current form and we can improve it over time.

Hallo Ingy,

the new design is not yet online, can we help you?

Greetings,

I think this is a good start. It's a nice, simple and balanced site.

I want to make a few style changes to the styling on the left side. I will make those this week, and then put it up on YAML.com.

Thanks!

Hello,

This sounds fine to me.

It would work best for us if you could make a git repository of all the web content, and host it on http://github.com. Then I will make yaml.com simply pull the latest content. I can automate this to pull it every day. Sound OK?

+1 from me on all points. YAML the data language has been around since
2001. YAML the CSS framework has been around since 2005. Let them
co-exist, but YAML the data language should "pull rank".

I still think you should change your name, before your project becomes
more popular. For example, Ethereal changed names to Wireshark after several
years (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireshark). Yet Another Multicolumn
Layout isn't even a very good name, imho. Why not change it to something
more exciting that still has a free .com name?
Don't push him, Ingy. If he wants to change the name of his CSS
framework, let him do it in his own time. Otherwise, he may think of a
name that's exciting for all the wrong reasons, like
"SantorumCSS.com".

Best regards,
Peter

Testing Google Group Mirrors

Sorry for the noise. This is a test to see if this message makes it
over the the google group mirrors of a few different mailing lists.

Btw, does anyone know anyone working for Google? Is Google doing
anything in the Ruby and/or YAML realms? If they were, you would think
they'd take some interest in this issue.

PyYAML and compatibility between python 2.6 and python 2.7

Hi,

while doing yamlish and bayeux (which uses yamlish) I have hit the
problem of incompatibility between repo() for floats between python 2.6
and 2.7 (and 3.1 I guess, but that isn't my problem yet, I don't support
python 3 yet).

I have a test
(https://gitorious.org/bayeux/bayeux/blobs/master/test/test_tap.py#line57)
which compares results of generation of TAP (and thus yamlish) stream
based on a JSON file. Unfortunately test fails on 2.7 with TAP file
generated by 2.6.

Diff looks like this (there are couple of hundreds of such diffs in my
file):

      Parameter: GL_LUMINANCE_ALPHA16F
    result: skip
    returncode: 0
- time: 0.077721834182739258
+ time: 0.07772183418273926
    ...

The problem is the solution for bug http://bugs.python.org/issue7117.

Is there some way how to persuade PyYAML that it should generate
representations of floats with some controllable format? (and I insist
on generating YAML compatible stream, not generating Python objects)

Thanks for any answers,

Matěj

Greetings,

I am pleased to announce that the yaml.com website is live.

    http://www.yaml.com/

The site is actually hosted on GitHub, which I realized is the perfect way to host static sites. Any changes pushed to the gh-pages branch of this repo: https://github.com/yaml/www.yaml.com will instantly go live. Since this repo is part of the 'yaml' organization on GitHub, that means that anyone who is a member of this organization can change the site. Obviously all changes will be tracked and can be reverted quickly, if something bad happens.

I also want to host the yaml.org site this way. Find me on irc if you want to chat about it.

Thanks again to the yaml.de folks for creating this website. Sorry it took so long to go live, but at least we did it in the best and most open way.

Ingy

Google Group

Just wanted to let you all know that the Google Group mirror of the yaml-core mailing list had been down for the last month or two. (Don't ask me, it was something Google did.) So I, for one, missed a number of messages. Though I am not 100% sure, I believe the problem has been fixed now.

If you posted something you thought important and few if any people responded recently, this might be part of the reason why. You might want to try again.
