When I follow the instructions at
http://forrest.apache.org/pluginDocs/plugins_0_90/org.apache.forrest.plugin.output.pdf,
they say to place a configuration file called config.xml at the location
$PROJECT_HOME/src/documentation/resources/schema/symbols-project-v10.ent.  However, when I
create this file and point it to a config.xml, as stated in the documentation, the config.xml is never
parsed.  (I can determine this by making the xml badly formed, which I would hope would cause an error of some
kind).  I have not gone into using strace to see where Forrest is actually looking but will try this soon.

I am using the trunk version of Forrest at the moment.

Forrest's configuration for PDF generation seems to use default fonts that do not have CJK characters.  The
Forrest site describes using the open-source Dejavu font family as a way of generating such multilingual
PDFs.  Since the Dejavu license has been ruled by Apache Legal as being compatible with the Apache License,
it seems like a natural step to generate PDFs in Forrest using the Dejavu font by default, saving CJK users a
significant amount of work in order to use Forrest.

We're using Forrest to generate the Apache ManifoldCF site. We've added Japanese content. The content
worked fine via localhost:8888, but the html images do not load properly in a browser, even though the
browser correctly presumes the page is utf-8. It looks like many characters are handled correctly but
some are corrupted. I've also tried the fix in FORREST-668 but this does not help. See
http://incubator.apache.org/connectors and click on the tab in Japanese to see what I mean. The current
source for the site can be found in: https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/lcf/trunk/site.

I checked out latest Forrest trunk and build that but there is no improvement.

removed some live demonstrations

That is one batch too many of "errors". These seem to occur when either
there is a network glitch or when JIRA is not available.

They are now not live links, but can still be use from localhost:8888

Now we should only get "real" notifications from the forrestbot.
