Try -

xmldb:decode() or xmldb:decode-uri()

Thanks Adam.

Another Memory Problem

Hey!

I'm working with about 4000 small files in one collection and want to query a node (without content value
specification) which is in every xml-file.

Has somebody an idea how i can increase the performance of this query or how i can save memory because i always
get an heap space error, although i set the maximum heap space of exist (in startup.bat) to the whole main
memory. (1 GB).

ava.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

at org.apache.xmlrpc.Base64.discardWhitespace(Base64.java:395)

...

at org.apache.xmlrpc.XmlRpcClient$Worker.execute(XmlRpcClient.java:436)

I'm using exist 1.2.3 (rev 7866).

Thank you all very much for trying to help me solving this problem, regards

Klaus

hmmm for me this seems to me a *client side* issue. depending on the
actual trace you see. Are there any exist classes involved here?
Please could you tell us *how* you execute the query inside the
database?

regards

Dannes

Re: HI, is there anyfunction unescape javascript's escape() to word

You don't need any special functions in your query. If the parameter
does really arrive as UTF-8, eXist should process it correctly.

However, you have to make sure the characters are not modified on
their way to eXist. This may already happen in the web browser (if you
are using AJAX, check if the content type header of the HTTP requests
you send does specify UTF-8).

The web server may also think it needs to transcode the characters,
especially if your system does not use UTF-8 as default encoding. You
at least need to pass -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 on the Java command line
when you start the server process. Otherwise, the Java libraries which
are out of eXist's control may fall back to your system-wide default.
