Hi Allan,

I was just citing an example where excessive super phosphate use and
excessive chemical fertilizer use can put the soil into major problems where
no crops can be grown. I don't perceive that people like Reams, Kinsey and
Albrecht ever got into situations where they screwed up the soil like that.

What I have found is that I can put down two fertilizer products as a "food
resource" in the form of trace minerals (Planters II) and organic nutrients
(Biosol organic fertilizer). With that resource in place I don't spend a
dime on soil testing or pH testing, because I've found that material is more
than adequate. The next resource I have added to soils and to plant roots
and plant surfaces is some very specific soil life. Examples of the soil

Commercial content... and Intellectural Patents

Hi Forest and eco village list,
I like the results of Forest's post, but a dull note in the strident tone
struck when I opened the www of the author. What I understand it to be is
- a copy of Biodynamic Farming solutions, albeit that have been verified
in brix-tests and my personal experience.

Forest, please let me know if you checked out that poster's claims? Do
you agree that is a 'copy of Biodynamic Farming solutions?' Aren't we
preaching to the converted and squabbling under the bleachers? Meanwhile,
this fast-writing guy sells a copy of Biodynamic Farming solutions by
mail.

Are you familiar with the Soil Food Web, Dr. Elaine INgrahm?

Best,
Zack

no, i have not, i simply thought his ideas were worth sharing....i am not a
skilled farmer of any modality....i do not know or fully understand the
science he uses....i belong to the brixtalk discussion group because i am a
newbie and want to learn more about growing quality food....but i have
little or no experience in the science of farming....also i have not
investigated his website...i have listened to him for some time on brixtalk
and he seems to be one who talks with some knowledge and experience....he
also claims to consistently grow high brix food, which is sorta the proof of
the pudding....tho i admit i have not visited his farm and tested his food,
i am taking his word for it at the moment...

is plagerizing some biodynamic author????....

I apologize for the delay in responding to your eMail. I have been
off-line most of this year due to illness in my family. I am now
catching up to answer much correspondence, on volunteer time.

Ecovillages are diverse, and none have reached perfection, that I
know of. However, there are many good examples you can explore, and
some of the more advanced are functioning as Living and Learning
Centers. For more information, please see the information at:

Best wishes to you,
Linda

Late response to Commercial content... and Intellectural Patents

Sorry Forest,
Been out and about. I appreciate your answers, altho the questions you
raise would take a long time to flesh-out. Allow me to cut and paste a
few observations. For the sake of legibility, MY COMMENTS ARE IN CAPS.

Re: Re:ecovillage special zone success

Might you be talking about "O.U.R. Ecovillage" at Shawnigan Lake, BC?
They were able to change the zoning distribution on their property from
one-acre subdividable parcels to clustered housing (only 10 households i
think) with wilderness and farming areas intact. The housing is also off the
grid with permits--i think they're in the procss of building now. Do a
search on OUR ecovillage.

Re: Re:ecovillage special zone success

Aloha David,

Here's their site:

http://ourecovillage.org/

I visited them earlier this year, in the spring.
Beautiful site, and more importantly beautiful work creating a new
provincial zoning category - with full support of the relevant
provincial minister, who hand-delivered the final paperwork himself
apparently.

cheers,
John S.
