Worth looking at the referenced site - turbomachinery in wood and wax.
Fascinating. A level up from the reference is even better; there's a
5 MB MPEG that has a mobile test stand demonstrating just how mobile
it can be. You wouldn't think you'd need a 6DOF for a static test...

Bill! You're not supposed to tell them the initiation rite until
_after_ their first meeting.  Sheesh.

Besides, it isn't hot coals. It's hot catalyst. Gotta stick to the
genre, don't you know.  :-)

Seriously, new members are most welcome, even more so if they're
willing and able to help out at the Rocket Ranch. And at our current
state, rocket science is not required: enthusiasm and common sense go
a long, long way. Dave Masten can fill you in on ongoing Ranch work.

I think the Safety Officer would veto the whole hot coals thing;
spilling hot peroxide on hot coals would start one heck of a fire.

It would however give one some indication of the conditions
inside the rocket engine, a biprop no less ;->

Re: Pump Site

I hadn't seen that mpeg, one of the best I've seen. Does anyone who has
viewed it speak enough German to translate?
This was a hybrid, can you imagine what would have happened with lox/kero?

Re: Armadillo Jul28 Update

Nice flight!
How are you achieving the control link?
What sort of bandwidth / data rate?

802.11b wireless networking.

>What sort of bandwidth / data rate?

802.11b runs adaptively from 1Mb/s to 12Mb/s, but we don't push huge
amounts over it. The laptop only sends tiny packets with joystick
positions (the actual rate is variable to minimize latency, but never less
than 20hz), while the flight computer sends back moderately bulky (1000
bytes or so) telemetry frames with all the sensor and state information at
a constant 30hz rate.

Re: Rutan Blasts Off

With both engines, about two minutes. At the end of those two minutes
you're at 12,000 feet.
Range? Zip. It's a test bed for our engines. But certainly an E-ticket
ride! ;->  Aleta

So, it just turns into a glider after that?
