Vedr. [Skate] Bøkkos leave CBA and rejoin federation group

Interesting. The Mueller problem solved for our team. Hope the Bøkkos will reach a higher level. But I
think Sverre should be the "captain" of our team...

Håvard & Hege Bøkko have decided to leave team CBA after one season and rejoin the group of the Norwegian
skating federation. They express gratitude towards Rolf Hauge for his financial support and Peter
Mueller for his coaching, but feel that a different program is needed to develop further.

[Skate] World Cup victories

Hello,

Last weeks I gathered all World Cup results since 1985-86.
The website http://www.speedskatingnews.info/ and Preben's files were a good source for the results
before the 2002-03 season.

After gathering I compared my list of world cup race winners
(http://www.sportstatistieken.nl/index.php?file=worldcup)
with the ISU ranking
(isu.sportcentric.net/db//files/serve.php?id=3415)

There were some deviations between these lists. Below I will show all these deviations with a list of world
cup victories of the skater according to my data.
I hope you can help figuring out which one is (more) correct or which races I've missed.

Greetings,
Machiel

Shani DAVIS:
ISU list gives 36x 1000m and 15x 1500m (total 51)
My overview of Davis' victories has 34x 1000m and 16x 1500m (total 50)
1	12-11-2005	1500m	Calgary	CAN
2	19-11-2005	1000m	Salt Lake City	USA
3	20-11-2005	1000m	Salt Lake City	USA
4	26-11-2005	1000m	Milwaukee	USA
5	27-11-2005	1000m	Milwaukee	USA
6	28-01-2006	1000m	Collalbo	ITA
7	29-01-2006	1000m	Collalbo	ITA
8	04-03-2006	1000m	Heerenveen	NED
9	12-11-2006	1000m	Heerenveen	NED

As far as I can see, you are right and the ISU are wrong in all cases.

A litttle sillyish to have more than one candidate for comeback of
the season, I think...

For once it's not hard to choose between the candidates for scandal
of the year, though there are many good ones as usual.

Re: [Skate] Re: Stein Johnson died

My mother recently passed, and while cleaning out the basement of her home I
found
a 28 page document titled "Training Program for the Young" by Stein Johnson,
trans-
lated by Knute Einerson and Einar Jonland.  An attached letter from Einar
Jonland dated
Dec 7 1966 to one of my childhood coaches, Don Pavlacic, states "Here is the
copy you
requested."  This is the first time I have seen this, it has been quietly
waiting for over 45 years.

Joe

[Skate] Uni-Koeln Awards: the results

The election boxes closed on Saturday, so they could be shipped to France, Greece, Schleswig-Holstein or
Serbia to be used there.

We counted 69 votes, which is about twice as much as past season (35 votes). However, the votes came from only
3 countries (Netherlands, Norway and Canada). I am not sure whether this is because of the decrease in
popularity in skating itself or in this old-fashioned yahoogroupthing, which was the successor of the
speedskating newsgroup that was hosted on the servers of the University of Köln in the early days of the
World Wide Web. That's where the name of these awards comes from.

You can find the full results on www.leidenatletiek.nl/uka12/results.php
