[Skate] Annouk van der Weijden 1.58.86 in Astana?

According to KNSB (SARA), Annouk van der Weijden made a pb also on 1500m 1.58.86 in Astana the 25th. Is this
correct and does that mean that there were "out of competition" races also on the 25th?

[Skate] Why Clas Thunberg (and Sven Kramer) did not enter

A nice story by the great Olympic historian Ture Widlund:
http://www.la84foundation.org/SportsLibrary/JOH/JOHv11n1/JOHv11n1k.pdf

Small quote: "Never before, and never since, has there
been so much trouble, so many incidents, so
much discussions, so much bickering and so
much cont roversy at the Olympic speed
skating events as in Lake Placid 1932. Why
was it so? There is, of course, no single
answer to that question, but you can point at a
number of factors that contributed."

RE: [Skate] Annouk van der Weijden 1.58.86 in Astana?

Yes,
there were also out of competition on the 25th november in Astana.
I was there but the names were not in the english but in kazakh
so i did not stay to watch these races.
I only know the 2 dutch results
v.d.weijden 1.58,86
J. Smit 39,28

there were also out of competition races in Tsjeljabinsk,

regards,
Kees

[Skate] World Cup Heerenveen 2-4 December

Please comment & discuss, you guys!

Is Shani downhilling (so far speaking metaphorically)?

What went on at the end of Mari Hemmer's 5k race?

One of my New Heroes for the season is Yevgenia Dmitrieva,
who today apparently bettered her 5k personal best with
*fifty seconds*, and is quickly climbing on the
adelskalenderen.

What does it take, and how many persons do we need
to import to our gene pool, to have Norwegians among
the top ten sprinters of the world again?

RE: [Skate] Why Clas Thunberg (and Sven Kramer) did not enter

Fascinating story with unique new details!

But note the conclusion:
"The incidents and controversies at the 1932 Olympic Games had effectively killed the mass start rules for
ever in international skating competitions."

For ever????
