With so many former world-level skaters –some of them even with broadcasting experience, e.g. Sten Stensen-
NRK shouldn’t have troubles finding someone who understands the sport, and who can point out that mass-start
has no place in an allround tournament, just as the marathon holds no 500m races.

This is bad news. At least we can hope, as Ove Eriksen has passed the
lawful retirement age, that we won't hear any more of his rude
comments. But I'm afraid they plan to hire him for skating broadcasts
anyway, as they evidently don't have any else with any interest for
the sport.
Even if NRK has decided that they will keep pushing their skating
broadcasts upon us, it doesn't mean they have a monopoly, does it? Is
it completely impossible to get any other national broadcasters
interested?
And after all, watching alternative skating broadcasts over the
internet is becoming more feasible year by year, so if you want to
see skating without getting personal abuse from the commentator, the
coming winter ought to give more opportunities than ever.
