Webcast from Vancouver today

For those interested in following what is going on in Vancouver at
the WUGC 2008, today you can watch live on the Internet a free
WebCast by UltiVillage.

The webcast will cover the opening ceremony and the opening game in
the Mixed division between the UK and Canada. It starts at 2.30 pm
local time (23:30 CEST) with the opening ceremony and at 4.30 pm
(01:30 CEST) the opening game will be aired.

Find more information and how to sign up at
http://ultivillage.com/index.php/uvtv/webcasts

Since I am in Vancouver I cannot check how it works but I would be
interested to hear about it from European viewers.

And in case you haven't noticed yet, all game scores are planned to
be reported live on the WUGC web page under

http://www.wugc2008.com/schedule

(Just click on the division and team you are interested in)

Unfortunately, user registration doesn't seem to be working. I keep
getting told I don't have cookies enabled (which I do).

I experience the same problem (Firefox and IE, WinXP). If someone has a
solution or workaround, please post on this list.

Thanks

Sorry for that. I did not check registration because I had registered
with UV 3 years ago and my old login still worked. Perhaps we will
get a comment on this problem by the UV team.

According to rec.sport.disc it seems that those who could
register/login had a technically good broadcast.

During the next days without a webcast it will be interesting to see
how the live scoring will work:

Blockstack TV WUGC Episode 1 + PimpMyDisc

Hello, Disc fans,

The first episode of Blockstack TV in Vancouver is online now. http://blockstack.tv

The show features.

- A walking tour of campus
- Predictions for the event
- A look at the stadium and the fields
- Special Bonus Feature PimpMyDisc

The opening game between GB and Canada was good fun to watch. I think GB surprised a few people. They certainly took points from Canada with some ease when things clicked.
Both teams made quite a few errors, GB just made a few more. Canada won 17-15.

Canadian handler Kira Frew and all rounder Brandon Wong were the stand out players. GB had great performances from Mark Davin and Anna Wilkes, but there were no weak links. If GB eliminate the mistakes they can do amazing things.

Do email us if you enjoy the show, and don't forget to let your friends know.

Hope you enjoy PimpMyDisc we all put a lot of effort into making it. Especially Steve.

Cheers
Tom And Steve

Worlds Stuff

Hello BD,ED

The weather is stunning here in Vancouver. I can see Sammy Neilson
and the NZ Masters from my dorm window right now preparing for head
out for the games today. Big things happened yesterday where all
games were meant to be forgone conclusions making for great news. Tom
is editing episode 3 for blockstack.tv right now so you should see
that hopefully tonight.

The GB Teams have been a mixed bag. The GB Women have struggled a bit
but have played well. The GB Boys have been settings their sites it
seems on the USA girls more than anything else. Open had an eye
opener against the dark horse Columbian team who's juniors defeating
the USA junior girls in a shock 15-11 crowd pleaser. The GB Masters
lost to the Aussies but took it out on France and are going to need a
big win to stay in it.

Germany Open squeaked a narrow victory over Venezuela and the Germany
who's juniors only lost by 3 to Canada in a strong showing. The
Juniors divisions are wide open it seems putting to rest any thoughts
that those divisions were North American dominated.

The day finished yesterday with Japan Women taking Canada to School
while GB Women did the same to Columbia.

Our behind the scenes coverage continues at Blockstack.tv. For those
who enjoyed the Ultivillage.com free webcast of the GB - Canada Mixed
game, it was so successful that UV are going to setup today for a
surprise webcast featuring the USA v Canada Masters. If this works
you'll have games to watch everyday live. Rather late and night
(starting around 1am for the UK and 2am in Europe. Go get some red
bull.

Steve
