Dear F-500 Crowd:
I have just completed my second F-500 race and am so excited about it that I
had to yell out to someone that can understand! It is the speed and
competition that I was after, but what I got was a lot more..... a whole lot
more!
Without going into too much detail (which would require a PDF. download) I
would like to mention a few names of the people that are worthy of the Eric
Hellerstedt- F500- Good Character-Sportsmanship Award that made it all
possible:

1. Clint Mcmahn
2. Dan Mcmahn
3. Robert Wilson (Bosco)
4. Jack Corthell
5. Jim Elder
6. Bob and Joann Berman
7. Jay Stroud

These guys helped me make a dream come true. I will be a friend to them
forever and will return the favor whenever possible............. THANK YOU!
The SCCA and F-500 people should be proud and also proud of this website.

SINCERELY, Eric Hellerstedt (Dolphin '91 # 7, Atlanta reg.) NOT IN
YOUR MIRRORS FOR LONG !!!

RE: (no subject)

I chuckled a bit when I read this, but this kind of enthusiasm is GOOD. Glad
to see it. Even though my car hasn't seen a second of testing yet, much less
racing (meaning I haven't had a chance to spend time with other F500 folks),
I've been very impressed with the F500 bunch. I can only hope I have as good
a time as Eric!

Patti's ASRA Driving School

ASRA Drivers School

This was my weekend! : Drivers school at the ASRA event at the new
Arizona Motorsports Park in Phoenix. Gene was my pit crew all day, and did a
wonderful job..Thank You Gene! I currently have a Solo1 SCCA license, which
allows me to compete wheel to wheel with other cars, but with limited passing
rules. (for novice drivers) The So-Pac Division of SCCA does not have any
Solo1 events scheduled this year in the whole region, so I had no outlet to
road race this year, only autocross. The ASRA school would allow me track
time to get more experience to see if I want to continue and go to SCCA
Superschool to apply for a SCCA Roadrace License.

First day of school: I got Dave Riddle as my personal instructor, which I
was very happy about since I know Dave from previous events, and he also
competes in the Formula 500 class. Our training was to be a lead/follow since
Dave didn't want to sit on my tailpipe. I had the only open wheel (all the
others were closed wheel cars), so the other Instructors were able to ride
with their students. I had ground school first, where we discussed flags,
under/over steer, tire pressure, hand positions, and watched still shots and
video of each corner and the correct lines.
Our first course session: was a slow & easy learn the line, learn to
be smooth session. I didn't understand the lines we took all the time, but
Dave told me when at speed that was where the car would need to be.
A second ground school immediately followed the session. We discussed
problems, correct cornering techniques, general disipline & courtesy and
rewatched the video.
Second Course session: followed Dave for a couple laps. We had
pre-arranged signals for me to go ahead of Dave when he thought I was ready.
We were in a tight bunch 4th/5th in line with more cars behind me, when Dave
gave me the signal. I passed Dave and had to pass 2 other cars before there

Pocono Time Trials

NECC, the NorthEast Corviar Council will be holding a time trials on
Pocono's East course Friday, May 16. Last year, Clair Smith and I had a
wonderful time running our 500's nose to tail for about an hour of track
time. If anyone is interested, please contact me for information. I am
also the registrar for the event.
Cars don't have to meet the new SCCA roll bar rules, and extingushers are
not required. (If your car passes tech for autocross, you will be all
right.) You only need a regular state issued dirver's license. As a
time trials, passing is only permitted on the straight to reduce the
chance for accidents. No wheel to wheel racing. It's time to bring out
those autocross cars to wring them out! A great tuning session. Price
is $170 for the day. You will get at least one hour of track time in
three 20 minute sessions, probably more. At the end of the day, each car
is timed, so you can compare yourself against the rest of the field.
I took FTD last year!

Additional info..Pocono time trials

I should have mentioned in my original post that we do require rear view
mirrors and brake lights. I added a hydraulic switch into my tail light
circuit for the brake light.

I hate to say this Gene, but she makes that puppy look quite a bit better than you do. How scary was that,
running with the grocery getters? The car looks good!

Surprised me.... When Dave gave her the go ahead, she passed his Porsche and
two vettes immediately, fell in behind the next vette and ate him coming out
of the next corner. Until the plug fell out she was "see ya"..
