Hi everyone,

I'm planning to send the newsletter on Monday afternoon (UTC), i.e.

There may be a few more edits by Friday, but the existing content

Let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns. As
always, I appreciate your help and feedback.

Thanks!

Community Tech Survey ready for translation

Dear translation community,

I am supporting the Community Tech team with a survey. The survey will be running before the end of this month, and the survey and questions are ready for translation. For this first-time survey, we would like to translate this into 8 languages: Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Arabic, Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese, and Russian.

Direct Translation Link:

The questions have been vetted and they should remain stable. Let me know if you have any questions and would appreciate any feedback you have about markup.

If time allows, you may also translate the research page, but the priority right now are the questions: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Tech_support_satisfaction_poll

Thanks so much!
Edward

localization of ContentTranslation - beyond complete translation

Hi,

TL;DR: Please help complete and update the localization of the ContentTranslation extension to help us fix bugs in it:
https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special:MessageGroupStats&group=ext-contenttranslation&language=ta#sortable:4=desc

In detail:

The ContentTranslation extension is now enabled in all languages, and it's being actively used, with over 1000 articles created every week.

One frequently-reported group of issues is errors with publishing pages. Updating the translation of the messages will help us developers to fix them. We are now using a message to document the error that actually happened while publishing, and this is essential information for addressing the bug.

It's not a very big extension and most of it is fairly easy to translate. Doing all of it should take anybody with some experience in translatewiki no more than an hour:
https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special:MessageGroupStats&group=ext-contenttranslation&language=ta#sortable:4=desc

If you are terribly busy and only have time to do a few translations, can you please update the messages that need updating - some of them are the ones that will help us debugging the errors.

Subject: [Translators-l] Tech News transitioning to the CEP team
Hello,

I wanted to let you know that the Community Engagement (Product) team (CEP)
[1] is going to gradually replace me as primary writer and coordinator for
Tech News [2].

When Tomasz Kozłowski (User:odder) and I started Tech News over two years ago,
I didn't think it would grow to being translated to nearly 15 languages every
week, or to being distributed to so many subscribers and community pages.

Tech News was originally created as a way to connect the two communities of
developers and content contributors, and I think it's done that job pretty
well. In the meantime, the CEP team was created, and they have a very similar
mission. They already manage very similar newsletters (like the one for
VisualEditor) and it makes a lot of sense for them to also coordinate Tech
News.

I wanted to send this email to let you know about this change, so that you're
not surprised when you start seeing emails about Tech News coming from the CEP
team. Johan Jönsson (Johan/Julle) will be the primary point of contact for
Tech News, and he'll also be working with Nick Wilson (Quiddity). I hope that
you'll be as supportive to them as you have been to me over the years :)

Which brings me to my last, and most important point: Thank you for all your
help on Tech News over the past two years. Whether you helped me draft the
newsletter, or you diligently translated it every week, or you notified your
community about upcoming changes: I'm very thankful for the time you have
dedicated to Tech News.

I'll still be around on the mailing lists and the wikis during and after the
transition, and I hope to continue to work with you on other projects.

Translation of three sentences - English to Spanish

Hello,

We have recently received another translated blog post from Leigh Thelmadatter; Wiki Learning Tec de Monterrey. A big thank you goes out to Leigh for providing the Spanish translations.

We are still looking to have three of the sentences translated from English to Spanish so we can publish the blog post:

ENGLISH TO SPANISH
• Tec de Monterrey students complete two major video projects

• Students with Wiki Learning Tec de Monterrey venture into the creation of professional-level videos, both as tutorials for fellow students and to document innovations in Wikimedia work.

Thanks in advance and we really appreciate all of the wonderful multilingual content :).

Best,
