Help us translate fundraising support pages

Dear translators,

I am reaching out to you to kindly ask for your help to translate two of our important support pages needed for fundraising.

We aim to make the donation process as smooth as possible for all donors who generously give to the foundation to support Wikipedia. Having updated support pages in as many languages as possible is crucial in order to reach this goal. This is where we would highly appreciate your help.

The English "problems donating" page needs to be updated in many languages.

The second page is related to recurring donations.

First priority languages are:
-Italian
-French
-Spanish
-German
-Dutch

A warm thank you for your help and support.

Kind regards,

Jessica

Ready for early translation: Tech News #38 (2014)

Greetings,

The latest tech newsletter is ready for early translation:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech/News/2014/38

Direct translation link:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&group=page-Tech%2FNews%2F2014%2F38&action=translate&filter=%21translated

I'm planning to send the newsletter on Monday morning (UTC), as usual.
The existing translations will be posted on the wikis in that
language.

I did the French translation and it took me about 12 minutes (I
copy-pasted some translations from the previous newsletter since
suggestions sometimes don't show up due to a problem with translation
memory).

There may be a few more edits by tomorrow, but the existing content
should generally remain fairly stable. I'll let you know tomorrow in
any case.

Let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns. As
always, I appreciate your help and feedback.

Thanks!

GettingStarted extension

Hi all,

Today we're starting to run an A/B test on 12 Wikipedias of a new tool that recommends you things to edit. The good news is more than 80-90% of the interface is translated in these 12 languages, so we can run the test simultaneously in...

- English
- German
- French
- Spanish
- Italian
- Russian
- Chinese
- Ukrainian
- Swedish
- Dutch
- Hebrew

English, German, and Hebrew are 100% done, but the rest of those languages have a few messages left to translate. These are error messages, so having them untranslated shouldn't make the interface seem broken for now. However, it would be great to have these 100% done. The A/B test will run only with newly-registered users with randomized buckets, for two weeks starting from today.

Thanks for all your help, now and in the past.

Media viewer consultation banner - quick translation request

Hi all,

Later today the engineering department is starting a meta consultation on the media viewer software and they want to put a banner up for logged in users to alert them to this. I've created a simple banner for this and if people are able to translate it quickly it would be great so that we can roll out with a couple languages already done.

You can find the translation interface for the banner at https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&group=Centralnotice-tgroup-MediaViewerConsultation_A and I've copied the text below if you'd rather email me a translation.

Have you used the new media viewer?
Your feedback will help improve the user experience.

Thanks in advance!
James

Ready for early translation: (short) Tech News #35 (2014)

Greetings,

The latest tech newsletter is ready for early translation:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech/News/2014/35

I'm planning to send the newsletter on Monday morning (UTC), as usual.
The existing translations will be posted on the wikis in that
language.

This week's issue is very short because I've moved some of the
non-urgent items to next week, so that people learn about them when
they can actually see the changes and test the new features. It's so
short that it took me only 5 minutes to do the French translation :)

I may make a few edits tomorrow (and remove empty sections), but the
content should generally remain fairly stable. I'll let you know
tomorrow in any case.

Let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns. As
always, I appreciate your help and feedback.

Thanks!

Ready for early translation: Tech News #34 (2014)

Greetings,

The latest tech newsletter is ready for early translation:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech/News/2014/34

I'm planning to send the newsletter on Monday morning (UTC), as usual.
The existing translations will be posted on the wikis in that
language.

Note that due to people traveling back from Wikimania, and others
being on vacation, this week's issue is fairly short.

I may make a few edits tomorrow, but the content should generally
remain fairly stable. I'll let you know tomorrow in any case.

Let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns. As
always, I appreciate your help and feedback.

Thanks!

Please help translate a few additional paragraphs for fundraising pages

Hi dear translators,

Due to some recent technical issues, as well as new integration of additional payment methods, a few edits have been made to the two fundraising pages listed below:

* Ways to Give page  (to be used for this page)

We would highly appreciate your help to translate the additional paragraphs and make sure that translations are up to date.

Thank you very much for your continuous help and valuable support.

Kind regards,

Jessica

VisualEditor Translation Sprint results

Hi all, I wanted to send a report about the VisualEditor Translation Sprint which was launched as an online activity during Wikimania. Some great results were achieved: you can find some highlights at [1] .

We noticed that during the translathon (possibly also because of other translation-related events at Wikimania) several interface messages were reviewed, like those for Traditional Chinese (zh-hant) and Dutch, and that about 600 messages were translated. One language even progressed from 0% to 100%! So we're excited to announce that the most prolific translator is (drum roll...) Deryck Chan!
Your barnstar is on its way.

A round of applause also to all the editors who took part in this. All of your contributions matter; and we heard from many of you in London that you want to involve other members of your communities in similar efforts to complete the work once you're back home, so really we couldn't be happier. We're also quite excited that some of you even joined the Translathon after Wikimania; interface messages in Breton, for instance, are being created even now. Many thanks to Siebrand, Keegan and to everybody else who supported the volunteers in the last days, including people who managed to update the user guide before the Translathon started. Please contact our team if you have questions or need further help with translation activities; meanwhile you can learn more about how to get involved at [2] .

Cheers,
rachel
