Ah, thanks a lot!.. so say..after importing 6 dumps (each with only the 
newest revision) then I will have 6 revisions in page history..right?

Is there a sql command to 'cleanup' and delete all revisions of all 
pages except the last revision?

MediaWiki 1.10.0rc1 release candidate available


MediaWiki 1.10 is the quarterly release snapshot for Spring 2007. While
the code has been running on Wikipedia for some time, installation and
upgrade bits may be less well tested. Bug fix releases may follow in the
coming days or weeks.

This is a release candidate -- 1.10.0 final will be released later this
week after a few more people have had a chance to test it in additional
environments.

MediaWiki is now using a "continuous integration" development model with
quarterly snapshot releases. The latest development code is always kept
"ready to run", and in fact runs our own sites on Wikipedia.

Release branches will continue to receive security updates for about a
year from first release, but nonessential bugfixes and feature
development happen will be made on the development trunk and appear in
the next quarterly release.

Those wishing to use the latest code instead of a branch release can
obtain it from source control:

To quickly expand on this, in MySQL do a "source maintenance/testRunner.sql",
which will create the two tables needed for storing test results, then do a:
php maintenance/parserTests.php --quiet --quick --record --color=no
(You can even skip the sourcing the table definitions if you want, as Ashar added
sourcing this automatically if you use the --record option and the tables don't 
exist; and the extra command-line options shown above are just the ones I use)
Then you'd make your changes (so it's probably not going to help you right
now if you've already modified stuff), and then do a:
php maintenance/parserTests.php --quiet --quick --compare --color=no
... and any items which are different should appear under the 
"previously passing test(s) now FAILING!" or "previously failing test(s) now PASSING!" or 
"previously PASSING test(s) removed" or "new PASSING test(s)" or
"previously passing test(s) now FAILING!" or "previously FAILING test(s) removed" or 
"new FAILING test(s)" sections. Things that haven't changed should be under
"still FAILING test(s)". When you want, you'd update your baseline again with 
the --record option (e.g. svn checkout time can sometimes be a good time to do this)

Updated HTML static dumps? Please?

The HTML static dumps are incredibly useful, since they are the easiest form
of Wikipedia to use offline - rendering the XML files is very difficult,
since there is not even a good Wikitext specification available. I have been
experimenting a lot with different ways of viewing content offline - hugely
useful in countries like Indonesia, where internet access is hard to come
by...

However, the static dumps have not been updated since December! It even says
on the page that the December dumps are still in progress - which they are
not! They are finished and all exist on the page (which I pointed out
several months ago).

So we _really_really_ need updated static HTML dumps of all the Wikipedias.
And I also really want stripped down HTML dumps of the English, that doesn't
include user pages and discussion pages.

I'd really like an update on this!

Yes, that would be great..not for en.wiki only but for all wikis...

I've made the index page dynamic so that it will automatically be updated
when new dumps are made, and I've added generation of split archives to
the scripts. The split archives for en for the April 2007 edition should
be done in a few hours.
