[Wikitech-l] Bill pictures

My automatic number separator don't seem to interest people :o(
I have a question and this time I really hope an answer !

Do we have to put a "specimen" note on the pictures of bill (banknote) we
want to put on Wikipedia ?

I am not a lawyer, but as I understand it, images of US banknotes are allowed
in the US as long as they're not actual size (there are some specific
numbers for
how far from actual size it has to be). I have no idea what French law says
about euro notes, or for that matter what the US law says about foreign notes.
Given the low (by currency standards) quality of online images, we're probably
safe.

See
http://www.euro.ecb.int/en/more/communication.GeneralPar.0020.filelinkFile.download/EN_REPRODRULES.pdf

(Page 3, Article 2, Section 3f)

The information is for Euro only, but I expect that's reasonable enough
for any currency.

Erstmal, wo?
Wenn das Ergebnis in's Handbuch eingearbeitet wurde, dann sehe ich die
Löschung des Ergebnisses (es steht ja immer noch im Archiv) als
berechtigt an.

Konsequenzen haben?

(Pardon wg. letzter leerer Mail)

Da die Wikipedia in erster Linie auf Konsens, und nur wenn es nicht
anders geht auf Mehrheitsentscheidungen arbeitet, hat so etwas
natürlich keine 'Konsequenzen'. Was für Konsequenzen überhaupt?

Mir geht, wie einige andere auch schon angemerkt haben, die ganze
Abstimmerei auf den Nerv. Kompromissbereitschaft und Erarbeiten einer
/breit/ getragenen Linie bleiben immer mehr auf der Strecke.

Regarding US currency, here is the actual law and regulation:

Most central banks seem to insist upon it - the Bank of England
certainly does, though I note that they don't adhere to their own
regulations on their own website! (Their regulations say "SPECIMEN" has
to be in black, but on many of their own pictures it's red).

There are still a couple of bugs to fix and some adjustments to be made
before the remaining wikis are upgraded. For Wiktionary, it would be
interesting to have a minimum article length before the TOC is triggered,
since Wiktionary entries often have a lot of headings while being
relatively short (making the TOC mostly pointless).

Hi,

Jimbo has agreed to participate in this conference, and I will probably
moderate the panel. Other than that I will try to get representatives from
other collaborative writing projects like Everything2 and H2G2. Hopefully
the conference can also become a meeting place for European Wikipedians,
but it's still a bit early to talk about that (WOS 3 is in April 2004).

Erik
