Last CfP: Workshop Turn Taking at the GLDV05

                             Last Call for Papers

MODELING TURN TAKING AS A BASIC MECHANISM OF COMMUNICATION
                     (Workshop at the GLDV-Jahrestagung 2005)

                          30 March - 01 April 2005
                                Universität Bonn

                      http://www.gldv.org/2005/work2

=======================================================================

Human-computer communication requires a model of turn taking, i.e. the
machine has to be able to switch between the speaker- and the
hearer-mode. The hearer-mode maps language signs into a
representation of their content. The speaker-mode maps content into a
corresponding signs of a language of choice.

This workshop invites original work on all aspects of turn taking, for
example, relating automatic word form recognition to word form
production, relating syntactic-semantic parsing to semantic-syntactic
parsing, analyzing the inferences needed for interpretation and
production, defining the data structure for storing content, or
designing the control structure for relating language interpretation
and production. In addition to papers on grammar and software systems
modeling turn taking, empirical investigations on dialogue systems
will be considered.

Job: research position in speech synthesis, working on Festival. CSTR, Edinburgh, UK.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

RESEARCH FELLOW IN SPEECH SYNTHESIS

The Centre for Speech Technology Research at the University of Edinburgh
is seeking a research fellow to work on the leading text-to-speech
research toolkit, Festival (www.cstr.ed.ac.uk/projects/festival) through
the ongoing project "Expressive Prosody for Unit-selection Speech
Synthesis". The project's aims are to add explicit control of prosody to
unit-selection speech synthesis, generate prosody appropriate for
communicating specific meanings and information structures and to
realise this prosody with sequences of appropriately-sized pitch
accents, arranged into valid intonation tunes. This project is jointly
lead by Simon King, Mark Steedman and Rob Clark (Edinburgh) and Dan
Jurafsky (Stanford, USA).

Full details can be found at http://www.cstr.ed.ac.uk/opportunities

Hi all,

I am a student currently doing a project on Hierarchical Text
Segmentation. As such, I require a corpus of hierarchical text in order to

RE: INFORMATION RETRIEVAL SOFTWARE TOOLS

Dear Lebron,

We have just released version 2.0 of our web-based corpora lingusitics tool called Corpografo. Among
other things, the Corpografo allows users to extract terminology from their personal corpora (in
several languages).

http://www.linguateca.pt/corpografo/

I remember calling attention to the Corpografo a few weeks ago on this list, but we have now a completely new
version on-line.

We were aware of the user interface problems of the previous version so we made a great effort in trying to
improve the usability of the Corpografo in this second version (still beta but 99% ok): the navigation
system is much simpler and user help is available in most of the situations.

The interface is in portuguese but it is clear enough for anyone who knows basic portuguese (we are working
on making an english interface available). Hope this helps.

Regards,

Luís Sarmento

Dear colleagues,

(Please, read this message carefully

I want to inform you that in Cuba the USA dollar
does not work any more, in it place now is
the PESO CONVERTIBLE cubano (Cuban peso

to Cuba with other currencies: euro, sterlings
pounds, Canadian dollars or Switzerland frank
and you could change it in PESO CONVERTIBLE
cubano at the airport, in your hotel or in the city.
(1.00 PESO CONVERTIBLE cubano = 1.00 USA dolar.)

If you come to Cuba with USA dollar when you will
change it into PESO CONVERTIBLE you will have
10% of tax, the other currencies do not will have any tax.

Now the fee of the Symposium is 200.00 PESO
CONVERTIBLE cubano and the fee of each
Pre-Symposium seminar is 25.00 PESO
