April Write-a-Thon is here

No fooling!

It kind of snuck up on me, but April 1 happens to be the first Wednesday of
the month.

As soon as I finish this mail I'll be joining the party myself.

The theme of the party is Events. Among the events early arrivals have
added are the Battle of Hastings, the Assassination of Martin Luther King,
Jr., and--well, I wonder about this one--the Launch of the Citizendium.
(Sounds like an ancient warship or battle or something. :-) ) I myself am
going to rectify a glaring omission: no "April Fool's Day" article! I
assume recurring events are OK.

I'm sorry if you visited the wiki this morning and could not access it.
There was another middle-of-the-night outage (well, it was nighttime for
*me*). But the wiki is back up now. I am sorry--we *will* get on top of
these outages.

See you on the wiki today???

CZ back up

All,

CZ seems to go out at 4 AM a lot. None of our tech guys has figured out
exactly why, not for lack of trying--but it has to stop. I'll be spending
the day today hiring a sysadmin to troubleshoot and fix the problem.

Anyway, the wiki is back up. Sorry for the outage...again.

Wiki down and back up

All,

I do apologize for the outages.

The wiki was down for quite a few hours, once again, but is now back up. I
can only reiterate that fixing this is a high priority for me, and I've been
conferring with our technical volunteers on this. They've expressed some
willingness to tackle the problem--nevertheless, if I get the sense that
they're not able to fix it within the next couple of days, I will be hiring
someone regardless. I'm also going to arrange an understanding about how
various people can restart the servers, and how to do so. This used to be
handled by a few different people and not me at all, but now it seems I've
been the only one doing it!

Happy Easter for those celebrating it! Frankly, if we hadn't been on an
Easter egg hunt with my little boy, the wiki would have been up sooner...
