Congratulations and thanks to user Nick Gardnr. Since July 2012, when we started tracking users who have worked on the wiki for 20% or more days of each month, Nick has clearly emerged as 2012's highest ranking user, having worked more days per month than anyone else: 5 out of 6 months, Jul-Dec 2012.

This question has been raised before, and Dan Nessett generally replied to it. It was he, in fact, who reduced our monthly cost from over $500 to the present $320. Somewhere in the Forums, there is a long discussion of this, with several comment from Dan. Can anyone here point Sigrid to that discussion? It may indeed be possible to lower the cost. Certainly the people at RationalWiki have been hammering us about this for a long time now....

December monthly donations fall short of December expenses

Colleagues,

Citizendium needs an additional $110 in December donations to meet this month's costs for hosting the website. If not forthcoming, that will require, for the second month in a row, dipping into our meager reserves. Citizendium cannot continue for long doing that before the website must shut down.

To continue building our free online wiki-based encyclopedia, we must support ourselves. A small amount from every user, monthly, can keep us online, so long as our active userbase does not go extinct.

But every who can should consider donating something, monthly, however small the amount, in order to keep us alive.

Some ask, pessimistically, "What's the point?" The point: stay alive to fight another way. 'Problems' disappear when 'Projects' replace them.
