Re: ascii data in physical units to Seisan
Hi Eduardo, Hi All
Thank you very much for the SAC example. I can see the trace in Seisan but there is still a problem with any ground motion, I get comment "No response file".
Even when I try to make velocity trace (from velocity trace), system try to find response information.
Has anyone any idea?
Grazyna

Hola Grazyna:
Unfortunately I have no experience with windows at all. When I did
the conversion from xy to sac was for relocation purposes, so I
didn't need the response file of the instrument. As your data is
already deconvolved you should set the instrument's transfer
function to 1, but I've never done it.
I'm sending you an example trace in binary sac and 2 columns ascii
(input format to xy2sac).
Good luck,
Edo.

Hi Eduardo
I have tried to work with SAC
velocity file in Seisan already but when I try to make groung
motion or Wood Anderson I get comment "no response info" and
nothing is changed.
What is your experience, can you
make Wood Anderson (displacement seismogram) with SAC velocity
file without response file?
If everything works fine by you,
could you please send me SAC velocity file example (best the
SAC ascii file)? I use Seisan for Windows.
Thanks for your help, greetings
Grazyna

Hi Grazyna:
I had the same problem some time ago, the way I manage to read
the data with seisan was converting the data to SAC. The
utility can be found on this website and is called "xy2sac":
http://web.utah.edu/thorne/software.html
You can set m/s as the data unit.
If you have a huge database, may be it's better to use seisan
for parsing your database from SAC to mseed or seisan format.
In my case, as I had the data already triggered, I worked
directly with my data in SAC.
Greetings from Chile,
Eduardo.

Hi Seisan community
I have got ascii data in
physical units, some channels of velocity in m/s and some
other acceleration in m/s2.
I know the comment ASCSEI
converts ascii data to seisan but I see Seisan usually
works with data in counts and response files. Is it the
only way?
Is it possible to input
direct data in physical units without system response and
process it in Seisan?
Thanks
Grazyna
