Guide to building memory palaces for study on Amazon

MEMORY PALACE DEFINITIVE
A Guide To Using The Memory Palace, Journey and Roman Room systems for most areas of memorisation

James Smith (University Of Warwick author and MENSA member)

* based upon simple, user-friendly number-letter code, compatible
with memory master Dominic O'Brien's, whose standard text How To
Develop A Brilliant Memory would make an ideal companion covering
  most areas of memory improvement
* 1000 "Location" suggestions and many up to 10000 for recalling page
numbers for texts over 1000 pages in length, year dates, numbered
lists such as the periodic table and so on
* includes 10 easily visualised and workable Locations each of 100
stages for immediate use with ANY memorisation technique
requiring "journeys" such as remembering strings of text, speeches,
multiple decks of playing cards etc.
* thorough A-Z bibliography with page references to texts for each
area of study and memorisation often requiring memory journeys or
  palacing
* very many acronyms for use in other memory systems
* shows how to transform wasteful browsing habits
* my preferred suggestions for making the most of your intelligence

separating thorium from uranium

The Manhattan Project used anion exchange to separate thorium from uranium and other heavy elements, and
the Soviets apparently used the same system during their atomic program.

According to the Journal of Analytical Chemistry of the USSR, Vol. 28, Part 3, p. 1240, uranium and a long
list of elements are "completely absorbed by anion exchange resins in HCl solutions above 8, but thorium
is not."

Although it may appear I know what I am talking about, I have no clue. Can someone rephrase the above in
"normal English" and then explain the anion exchange method so that a layman (like myself) can understand
how it works?

Major Help Needed!

My husband is being treated for cancer and his treatments are not going well. I have no choice but to take 4
weeks off to take care of him until some distant family members can move in to help. I will be taking leave
under the Family and Medical Leave Act and won't be getting paid (since I don't have that much leave built
up), but I am certainly not just going to leave them with a sub until I get back (we'll have about 3 weeks left
when I return).
So here's my problem - how do I teach "remotely"? The students will be stuck with a sub, which in my state only
means someone with a high school diploma, not an actual teacher. I teach lower-level chemistry and
physical science and we do not have an end-of-course test so technically I can teach whatever I want in
these courses. I have been sticking to the state guidelines, but now I am just hoping to get some ideas for
helping my students learn something related to science while I'm gone.
I am asking you wonderful people to help me figure out how/where to get together material that the students
can and will essentially teach themselves. Piece of cake, right?
