WCCM 2012 in Brazil: final deadline for abstract submission

Dear Colleague,

The final deadline for abstract submission is February 12th, 2012. If you
plan to join us at WCCM 2012 and have not submitted your abstract yet,
please go to our website at  <http://www.wccm2012.com> www.wccm2012.com and
perform your submission. You can submit your contribution to a specific
Mini-Symposium or let the Local Organizing Committee choose an appropriate
Mini-Symposium for you.

We draw your attention to the following information:

1)      Payment of the registration fee can be done exclusively via credit
card (Visa and MasterCard only). Click on the button Pay Registration Fee at
our website. An early registration fee is offered if payment is received
prior to March 31st, 2012.

2)      São Paulo is a very busy city, with many events taking place every
day. Please book your room as soon as possible. You can do it by clicking on
Accommodations at our website.

3)      We remark that citizens from many countries need a visa to visit
Brazil. Please, check if you need a visa by clicking on the button About
Visa at our website. If you need a letter of invitation in order to apply
for a Brazilian Visa, you can download it from our site. 

4)      Scholarships from the US Association of Computational Mechanics
(USACM) and from the Brazilian Association for Computational Methods in
Engineering (ABMEC) are now available. Please click on About Scholarships at

CILAMCE 2012 within the WCCM 2012: Special Mini-Symposium!

Dear colleague,

 

The 33rdIBERIAN LATIN AMERICAN CONGRESS ON COMPUTATIONAL METHODS IN ENGINEERING (CILAMCE 2012) will be held in conjunction with the WCCM 2012, in São Paulo, Brazil, July 8-13, 2012. As part of these joint congresses, we have created a special Mini-Symposium to which abstracts can be submitted in English, Spanish or Portuguese. Please take a look at the MS-171 – CILAMCE 2012 Special Session on Computational Mechanics in Latin America on our website (www.wccm2012.com) and submit an abstract to this Special Session!

COUPLED PROBLEMS 2013 - First Announcement

Dear Colleague,

 

We are pleased to announce the V Conference on Computational
Methods for Coupled Problems in Science and Engineering. COUPLED 2013
will be organised on 17-19 June 2013 in Ibiza, Spain. In this Conference we will
celebrate the 60th birthday of Eugenio Oñate.

 

The previous four editions of this conference were held in the
islands of Santorini (Greece) on 25-28 May 2005, Ibiza (Spain) on 21-23 May
2007, Ischia (Italy) on 8-11 June 2009 and Kos (Greece) on 20-22 June
2011.

 

The objectives of COUPLED 2013 are to present and discuss state of
the art, mathematical models, numerical methods and computational techniques for
solving coupling problems of multidisciplinary character in science and
engineering. The conference goal is to make step forward in the formulation and
solution of real life problems with a multidisciplinary vision, accounting for
all the complex couplings involved in the physical description of the problem.

 

The conference will be included as one of the Thematic Conferences of
the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences
(ECCOMAS). It will also be supported by other scientific organizations in
Europe and worldwide including the
International Association for Computational Mechanics
(IACM).

 

Key Date: The deadline for presenting a one page abstract is October29,
2012.

International Conference on Computational Plasticity. Fundamentals and
Applications (COMPLAS XII), that will take place in
Barcelona, Spain, on September 3–5, 2013.

Previous meetings in the COMPLAS series were held in Barcelona in 1987, 1989,
1992, 1995, 1997, 2000 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011. COMPLAS
conferences have become established events in the field of computational
plasticity.

The objectives of COMPLAS XII are to address both
the theoretical bases for the solution of plasticity problems and the numerical
algorithms necessary for efficient and robust computer implementation.
COMPLAS XII aims to act as a forum for practitioners in the
field to discuss recent advances and identify future research
directions.

Call for Nominations for IACM Awards 2012

Announcement: The International Association for Computational Mechanics
announces the call for nominations for five awards to recognize
outstanding contributions in computational mechanics.

The membership of IACM (International Association for Computational
Mechanics) and all other members of the computational mechanics
community are invited to submit nominations for the IACM awards. The
IACM awards are listed below. Each nominator can nominate no more than
one individual for each of the awards, with the exception of the Fellows
Award in which case two individuals may be nominated. Self-nominations
are not accepted.

Each nomination is to be submitted on a SINGLE page in PDF format giving
the following (an example can be found on the webpage):

1. The name of the award for which the nominee is being nominated
2. The name of the nominee, including a full address and email address
3. The name and email address of the nominator
4. Professional history including major awards (10 lines maximum) - need
not be a complete - list only most recent or most important positions
5. A short description of the major accomplishments of the nominee, i.e.
why is he being nominated (not to exceed 500 words; one page is maximum
including the above!)

are available on the webpage
