OS: VIA 70 Ingersoll Ont

Finally lucked out and managed a day off with some Sun. Not sure how long it will last.

Waited in the cold for 70 as it was running about 30 minutes late.

Here it is leaving with 906 and 7 Budd coaches.

Rapido CN coach seat Colors

Hi
I was wondering if the seat color in Rapidos CN coaches, in the 1961 
CN black/Gray, is correct. the seats are an off white. I always though 
the sears in these cars was Red. I noticed the CN cars in the 1954 
colors are Red.

AMT motive power

Hi, I'm finally going to get to do something I've been wanting to do 
for some time now...railfan Montreal's AMT lines. This March I'm 
going to be in the city for a couple of days and I am looking forward 
to some great railfanning. I'm a big fan of this commuter rail 
operation and I'm looking forward to seeing it again (it's been about 
7 years since I last saw it).

When I was last in Montreal, I was able to catch one high-speed shot 
of an old ex-CP FP9 trailing a run moving through Dorval station. I 
didn't expect to see it, and the lousy picture I got shows this 
haste. Are any of the FP's still in operation? Have they all been 
retired?

To aid a modelling project, I am eager to photograph the heck out of 
one of the SGU's, and in doing so, get some great shots of the GP7's 
as well. Last time I tried to figure this out these units were 
working the Blainville line. My memory is sketchy at best. Is it 
still possible to photograph Geeps in regular operation?

Of course, I'm still hoping to see and photograph some of the great 
NJ Transit leased equipment as well.

Is there anyone here on the list that can point out any sights I 
simply must take in? Recommended places to photograph operations and 
where to find a variety of equipment...Heck, how is the variety 
lately and what should I be on the look out for?

Thanks so much, I'm pretty excited about this opportunity and looking 
to make the most of it.

No, All of AMT's F-units were retired when they took delivery of the 
F59PHis. They still have some geeps and some ex Amtrak F40PH's. They 
also have some power leased from New Jersey Transit.

I also highly recommend the electric MU's on the Montreal-Deux-Montagnes 
line. There are plenty of good photo spots outside the Mount Royal Tunnel, 
especially from bridges overlooking the open cut just outside the MRT near 
Canora and Mont-Royal stations. The present Bois-Franc station is a far cry 
from its predecessor Val Royal, not much there anymore. The yard, loop 
track, and Cartierville spur are all long gone. You should have little or no 
trouble lineside near any of the suburban stations; Central Station may be a 
little more iffy.

One caveat about all AMT commuter train lines: They operate on the 
proof-of-payment fare system, meaning you must have a valid ticket or pass 
with you at all times aboard trains or on station platforms. Fares vary by 
zones; the fine if you're caught without a ticket ranges from $75-$500, and 
the inspectors are NOT sympathetic to excuses! Fares and schedules are 
available on the AMT site, www.amt.qc.ca, in English or French; the English 
content may be somewhat limited.
