Which Scanner Software

I just picked up a BC780XLT for $5 at a local ham tailgate sale. Works great and I can program manually but I would like to automate things.

SO, which software should I use? I prefer freeware as money is tight at the moment but I can go with something that costs money if I have too. I just don't want to waste money only to find out the software is lousy - I get one shot at this.

I'll give you $20 for it:)

I use ARC780. Pretty simple to use and all you need is excel.

Re: Which Scanner Software

Take a look at ProScan at www.proscan.org. It is not free, but it will
give you a 30 day free trial and it is only $50 to register it. It will
not only program the 780, but most other newer Bearcats. It also has
the ability to run remote control as well as streaming by itself or thru
the RadioReference or IceCast systems.

Great software and a good author that supports his product.

Here's another vote for ProScan. I'm using it with my BC780XLT,
BCD396T, and BCD996T.

Which Scanner Software

If you want free software, google 'CC780'.

It's a good program, not in the Proscan league, but still quite capable.

Re: Which Scanner Software

Thanks for all the answers. I have googled for "CC780" but so far all I've found are broken links or readme files.

Let me explain why I want cheap - I live in St. Johns County Florida. They are int the 150 Mgz range. The closest big city is Jacksonville which is trunked and encrypted as is the State frequencies. So all I have to listen or scan is the county stuff and the 2 meter repeaters (I am a licensed ham). My needs aren't too complicated since my listening options are limited so I don't want to negate that good deal by spending a large amount on software. I would rather put my money towards a new D-STAR mobile rig. :-)
