RE: Re: software issues

There is a recent Windows 7 update to USB drivers and detects the “pirated” Prolific chipsets used in nearly all of the Chinese USB cables.  This update effectively broke every Chinese clone cable.  Is the error code a “10” when looking in Device Manager??  If so, that is your problem.  Check it out on Prolific’s web site.

Recommendation: buy a known good USB to serial adapter (MFJ sells one or look for something from FTDI).  Buy a SERIAL/RS-232 programming cable instead of the USB version.

Even better, buy the set from RT Systems and get the best right out the door – software and cable together.

Kenwood doesn't make the cable, and they'll happily let you know that.  I had to fool with the drivers too.

A real Kenwood interface cable or a Chinese one?  Saw something on  a Baofeng group about problems with win7 and some of the import cables.

Re: software issues: Used Wouxun USB Cable Drivers . It Worked !!

I was finally able to get the issue resolved . I decided to try the Wouxun program cable USB drivers for
Vista/Win7 off Wouxun USA's download page. It worked !! Since the same programing cable works with the
Wouxun HT's it was worth the try. Thats all for this thread please ! Thankyou to those who posted !

AC inverter

Can the Kenwood AC adapter that comes with the TH-F6 be plugged into a 12vdc to 120vac nonsinusoidal
waveform power inverter with out damaging the AC aapter?

Re: AC inverter

It should work fine. However, why would you do that? It would be far better to connect the battery directly to the charge port. You are going to loose something like 30% or worse due to inefficiencies in the inverter, the power supply, and if all you are running is the charger then the inverters natural idle amp usage will add to the wasted power.

Hope that helps.

Re: AC inverter

Good question.  It does have a line powered transformer, but a switching power regulator.  The non-sinusoidal waveform could confuse it.

RE: AC inverter

To let you know...

Years ago I bought a Kenwood TH-26A with wall charger. The radio has since passed away but the charger continues to live on keeping my TH-F6 alive. I use the charger in my van on an inverter and also in the house on regular 60Hz.

The only thing I have ever noticed is that the charger gets fooled into thinking the radio has been fully filled. When I check the battery level I find the battery is only 2/3 full. If I charge in the house I get 100% charge.

Otherwise I don't have any problems.
