Once you find a cable, there are several good programs to use. ARC250
has a trial period before you have to pay for it. Freescan is free
and is my program of choice. try www.scannow.org for the program.

The program from Uniden is available on their website, but is out of date and no longer updated.

did you try usa scanner as well,sorry i sold both my 250d,s a while back or i would have had the gear you needed,iam faced witha bearcat 785d now and not been able to find a cable as well so iam going to sell that one,,i will keep this site open and keep looking ok,i recall seeing some hardware at scanner world a while back but it needs to be searched there as its kind of confusing site to wade threw

scott i think i saw ur name on the unidenbc250d-hHKSG33TihhbjbujkaE4pw@public.gmane.org, so ur ahead of me there, i did scan scannerworldusa and they have many cables there tho didnt see one for the 250 but not to say one or more they have there wont work on yours,perhaps one of the others can be rewired or such,or wired the same,one never knows, 800 476 8050 is there number,ill keep looking k

AFAIK freescan doesn't work with the 250d - was support added recently?

I have checked with them as well as most of the usual scanner sites. No one carries it any longer and it is no longer made. Unlike other recent scanners, the cable for the 250D was exclusive to it and the 296D only, having a smaller radio connection than that on the 396/996 radios. It's like a mini plug. Which is why I am now trying these groups.. to see if someone might have one they don't use or need any longer or that someone may have bought several. So far, no luck yet.
