Rebanding and the 250D

I keep reading about this 800 Rebanding business.

Will the 250D be affected?

It seems to me that the 250D will NOT be a problem, since I can enter 
806 MHz frequencies and the 850 frequencies that will be used.

The Uniden website mentions "flashing" the 246T and some other
models, 
but there is no mention of the 250D.

If you have come here to find out about the 250D you have come to the right place! In fact the discussion of the
BC-250D and how it works is the only acceptable topic on this list. Any discussion about anything other
than the BC-250D is OFF TOPIC. I hope this is clear to all group members..

YES, As it stands now the 250D will need to be REPLACED if you wish to monitor 
a Motorola 3600baud control channel system. EDACS mode systems will NOT be 
effected.

It will be a problem because even though you can enter the frequencies and they will work fine in
conventional mode, trunking won't work properly. It has to do with the logic used to tell the scanner which

Man I can't believe this! I just invested in the BCI25D card to the tune of 
$200 to get ready for my areas upgrade to digital. Now I am stuck with a 
scanner that will be useless in a year or so. I think the scanner community 
should put the pressure on the Uniden and Nextel.

While I feel your pain, I think Nextel could care less.  Remember, it was
the cell phone giants that pushed the ECPA back in the late 80's /early
90's.  They don't want us to have scanners anyway... never mind the fact
that analog cell phones are pretty much history, and GSM/CDMA can't be
monitored by current scanning equipment.

There has been information that most of the newer Uniden scanners will be 
flash upgradeable to accomodate the new band plan. The 296 and 246 for sure. Do 
some searches, there is a chart out there, and I am pretty sure the 250 is on 
it too, as it shares common features with the 296/785/780 family

Negative on the 785. The 296 added the ability of flash upgradeability.
