Thanks much for the feedback on which antennas to use for the BC250d.
I am wondering if someone might recommend a place that I can buy a 
Diamond Discone from as I have been having a rough time finding one.

antenna issue

I'm a fan od discones...but 18 years...you got your money's worth. I would 
look to replace the COAX every 10 years.

For mobile use, with trunked systems I have been using a Mag Mount Cell 
Phone antenna, usually they can be found cheap at hamfests or from All 
Electronics ( http://www.allelectronics.com/ ).... you probably will need a 
TNC to BNC adapter.

I have been using the same Diamond Discone for 18 years on my roof.
It is solid stainless steel and looks as good as the day I bought it.
This includes the PL connector too.  I feed it with R8 coaxial for

Ed,

What would be the issue with the coax?
It's RG8U (about 1/2" diameter)  I inspected the PL259 on the 
antenna end when I moved it.  Being inside the stainless steel shaft
of the discone and protected from the elements, it looked new.  
The other end, of course, is inside the house.  There are no digs or
external signs of wear on the cable itself, and my range seems to be
the same as it always was.  It has been in use on a coax switch with
an Icom R7000, a Pro2006 and a BC200XLT as well as the BC250.

New York State Scanning frequencies for new BC250D

I was wondering if I might get a recommendation from someone as to a 
web site I can visit to acquire frequencies to program for the NY 
State area.  
I live in Ulster County NY

1500ma high capacity bc250 battery

Just curious to know if anyone has purchased this battery and if so, 
how does it compare to the stock battery.  I am also considering the 
car dc adapter as well and if anyone has a recommendation as to the 
best place to purchase these please let me know?

Narrow Band EDACS

I am considering getting a BC250D. Does anyone know if it will follow 
Narrow Band EDACS? I have a Radio Shack PRO-95, which by the way does 
not follow narrow band EDACS< and I am not happy with it.Thanks

Yes, the 250D does follow narrow band EDACS TRS's I can't tell you how well 
it performs there as there are no such systems in the Chicagoland area. All 
public safety EDACS TRS's here are wide band.

I purchased a 1700 NiMh battery for my 250 from Lee Electronics
(www.LeesElect.com) for about $28.00.  It is rated at 1800 mAh and lasts
longer than the stock battery.
