If you have come here to find out about the 250D you have come to the right place! In fact the discussion of the BC-250D and how it works is the only acceptable topic on this list. Any discussion about anything other than the BC-250D is OFF TOPIC. I hope this is clear to all group members..

Serlling my BC250D

I'm selling my BC250D with APCO CARD.  Has new battery, wall charger, programming cable,  20mhz-1300mhz magnetic mount car antenna with 10ft cord, and I have an extra ext window mount for rubber ducky antenna.  Programed for the SF Bay area freqs but with the programing cable you can reprogram it.  Will throw in any thing else I find for it.  How does $200 plus shipping sound? Moving over seas and can't take with me.

Manual entry and changing of banks

Hi to the group,

Not much activity on here..:-)

I have been reading the manual backwards and forwards and even sideways and cannot find out how to do things I want to do.

1) How to manually enter a frequency after the scanner already has been programmed (I was given the scanner already programmed with the stuff I want to hear. It was owned by a very good friend of mine)

2) When in manual mode I want to change banks to monitor just a certain set of frequencies.

Help Please!!!

May be selling 250D

I have a mint BC250D with new battery pack and the P25 card installed. My little town of Westerly RI recently upgraded to "Double Secret Squirrel" radios and I can no longer receive them on anything available. I was wondering what the price I should ask should be. Any answers would be appreciated. On a side note, the programing cable went MIA due to a house fire and the shoddy handling of our possessions by Servpro. I make no promises but if I do find it at my storage locker, it will also be for sale with the first shot going to whomever buys the scanner. I think the odds are pretty good I'll find it as it's not pawnable. No promises, but I'll know it if I see it. Thanks, Brian

Hi all,

When I bought this scanner about a year ago the guy I bought it from said he was going to try to find the programming cable for it. Now he is telling me that "he looked but cannot find it: GEE!!! Imagine that..!!

Anyway I have been looking on E-bay and Amazon for a cable and cannot find one anywhere. Anyone in the group might have a spare they could sell me?

Fel free to contact me off list If you do.

Thanks

True enough.  No 9600 baud systems, even if they're not rebanded.

Just a point of clarification -- it's not that the 250D can't decode the digital voice, it's that it can't track newer trunked systems because it listens to the control channel to find out where to go next and from there tunes the radio to whatever frequency that would be.  But the FCC changed the frequency assignments a while back, so when the control channel tells the 250D where to go, it goes to the wrong place.  Newer scanners are made to handle the new assignments.

Some systems (like EDACS) it trunks fine.  And it should decode most P25 digital voice if it's on a single (conventional) frequency.  The problem is only with Motorola trunked systems, most of which have been rebanded.

That is also listed as a pure analog system (no P25 at all), so that might not be the one you're talking about.

What area  are you in?

you may want to invest in a 436hp which is the top of the line portable uniden has.

Re: Introduction

Thanks.
Unfortunately I have no serial ports on my computer. I also found (hiddden away in the closet) an old Dell computer running XP. This computer has no serial ports either. Is a USB-to-Serial port adapter available for this cable.

Also will arc250 run on the XP machine?

Is this a good deal for this radio? I see them on fleabay and amazon for upwards of $225.00. Just curious. I do own a homepatrol scanner and have learned how to use it pretty proficiently, but I was looking for something I could throw into my bag and take to work for listening while I am in the field. I am a supervisor for a public transportation comapny here in San Diego and sometimes have long periods where I am idle, especially on the few night shifts I work.
