Lars' Weeks 23 and 24

Week 23: http://tinyurl.com/j5ofa
Week 24: http://tinyurl.com/obxpd

Week 24, to me, has a bit of a disturbing look to it. It's a great example of how photography can turn the
mundane into something with far more impact than it warrants.

Re: Lars' Weeks 23 and 24

Actually, Lars, they both seem a bit sinister to me,
especially when shown together. Both are darkly
rendered with some deep shadows, and both show boys
turning away from the camera to engage in what appear
to be furtive activities. These are interesting
qualities, albeit creepy ones.

Re: Xi'an Street Vendors (mh)

I also agree that the 2nd figure adds a lot more interest but your crop of the woman vendor makes it stronger.
Moving the man in towards the woman might work. It's certainly a good idea although it might cross my own
threshold of what's "allowed" in post processing. Of course, it if it turns out to be really successful,
then my threshold changes. ;-)

BTW, one thing I wondered about is whether or not the scene had a more orange cast to it. I think a slight
reddish/orange cast from the lantern would make it seem more real and closer to the actual scene's
lighting. At least based on how I remembered the light from street vendors in China.

In any case, it's a great shot, as usual.

Re: PAW 24 GarryH Piper

Garry, the first is unusual, while the second is
amusing. Both are interesting, but I prefer the
smiling horse in the alt. Is it common to go to all
this trouble for a horse? And how are you involved?

RE: Week 26 - Stuart (mh)

Thanks, Mark. There's no doubt I learned to
appreciate such photos from seeing work like yours
over the years.

Sorry from Jeffery

Fellow PAWers,

I apologize for not keeping up on viewing PAWs for a while. Everything down
here since the storm has been inconvenient (having to drive half an hour for
what used to take 10 minutes, store hours that are 8 hours a day instead of
12 hours a day, etc.). I have an Outlook folder that collects all posts with
the word "PAW" in the subject line, and I just noticed that it contained 500
unread posts! I cannot view anything on the computer at work (viewing
anything that is not college-related is now grounds for termination), and
have been too busy in the evenings to go through people's posts. But I did
click on a dozen links in the past 10 minutes and there is some really great
stuff there, truly. As trite as the PAW project might seem, participation in
it has certainly improved my technique and eye, and looking at your posts
has given me a great deal of inspriation.

I also noticed that there is an Ian Lind participating. I didn't have your
URL posted on my links page, so I did update it. If there is anyone else who
has been left off my links page, please send me an email and I will correct
the sitution.

Thanks for that Stuart. Piper is a work colleague's horse which has
had some problems with its back, horse chiropractors have been
involved and part of the rehab is to swim it. I am told that a lap of
