Re: All Saints

Sonny,

To paraphrase an old late-night radio host, What's the
story behind the story in this photo? Is this a
memorial service?

All Saints day is tomorrow, but my Parish celebrates it on the nearest
Sunday. It is a memorial service. We put pictures and mementos of relatives and
others close to us who ahve passed away. Once upon a time, there was All
Hallows eve, All Saints Day and all Soul's day, all in a row.

Sonny

Young buck & red rider

I went hiking on yesterday's foggy afternoon in Russian Ridge Open Space
Preserve above Silicon Valley. I played tag around the microwave repeater
station's yellow shack with a young mule deer buck whose new antlers were
just beginning to come in:

On my return trip a cyclist's bright red jacket made a nice contrast with
just-greening grass:

  All comments welcome.

Re: PAW 44 dlridings

Good example of how grafitti degrades the quality of
life. The bowed head is a nice touch.

Re: All Saints

Thanks, Sonny, now I get it. I like the juxtaposition
of the photos of the dead with the live people in the
background, the photos sharp and the people out of
focus. Something to think about.

Paul,

Here is another pic taken five minutes later,
hopefully that is sufficient evidence :-)

For those who aren't familiar with the "Black Rock"
I visited near Geelong, it is the site of an outfall
sewer and accompanying treatment works. The rocks are
black because of the waste. Things have changed though
and the stuff is now discharged further out via an
underwater pipe. There is also a wind turbine pilot
project across the road from the trwatment works. This
is all on the South coast of Victoria only about 15
minutes by car fromn the famous Bells Beach of surfing
reknown. My hay bales were about 750 metres away from
the wind turbine.
