Dear Fellow Dancers,

As per the finest tradition of bringing together horticulture and the
fine arts, we are proud to announce our annual "Watermelonga".

Say goodbye to summer in this last of the hot nights, with fine
watermelon, finer dancing, and the finest of company. Gaze longingly
at the infinite solitude of the blue stars as they shiver in the
distance while we play for you the saddest melodies. (Also, bring your
dancing monocle as cabaceo will be strictly enforced.)

Tango Classes Tonight (Thu)

Hi dancers,

Tonight (9/1) we will begin a new Quick Start class. 

Registration is re-opened to women. Anyone who wants to attend may do so.

$35 / $25 students / $10 repeaters / free if you are enrolled in an upper level course.

[] T3 7:30 pm - Improvisation, Structure, Musicality. (pre-req: a previous T2)
Format of each class will be in five parts:

- technique drill / warmup
- games (touchy-feel 70s style modern dance movement games that Carlota hates but you will probably love)
- partner improv experiments & and problems to build skills and creativity
- music - focus on one or two songs - repeated listening - recognizing parts - playing with interpretation
- class ends with an improv challenge

[] T4 9 pm - Advanced Technique Seminar (pre-req: a previous T3)

Each class focuses on one or two concepts in walking, turns and ochos.
Sounds rather dry, but we use interesting methods, and have some steps that are real beauties.

Beginner: 7:00-8:15pm
Intermediate: 8:30-10:00pm
Room: 328 Armory

$30 per person for all 6 weeks, $25 for students

No experience necessary for beginners.

Join us for the first milonga of the season at the Krannert Art Museum
this coming Thursday (9/8, 6-9pm). The amazing Tangotta will be
playing tango music for us:  Dorothy Martirano (violin), Armand
Beaudoin (bass/cello), George Turner (guitar), Chris Reyman
(keyboards).

Admission is FREE.

I want to personally thank Anne Sautman of KAM for making these events
possible, Chantelle Hougland for co-organizing, Sharon deCelle for
permitting me to use her poetry on the flier, and Dorothy Martirano
and the Tangotta for the blessing that they are!

It is an exciting start already for a new year of dancing with the
Cowboy Monkey now overflowing with old and new faces at tango nights
and Claire's upcoming special tango weekend next week. Looking forward
to dancing with you all.

This message pertains to Joe & Carlota's tango classes tonight at Channing-Murray.

Owing to the tango dance at Krannert Art Museum with Tangotta, we have the following change in our schedule tonight.

- We will not have Tango 3 or Tango 4 class. (If you want to join this class, you can still do so next week.)

- We will, however, still hold Tango 1 (Quick Start) at 6-7 pm, as usual. (And new enrollees are welcome to join.)

We will see everybody at KAM tonight!
