not the original hood methinks

Subject: [vSAAB] 1973 Model 95: no widget for windscreen washer fluid.

The '73 Saab 95 (resurrected car-b-que) has no widget on the hood to distribute windscreen washing fluid... and no hole for it either.

Though there is no blob of melted plastic where the washer bottle is supposed to hang, there is the familiar black tubularly-sheathed pair of wires to power a windscreen washing fluid pump.

So: was windscreen washing an option that this car didnt' have? (hard to believe since Saab was coming out with washers for headlights right around that time) ... or did this car originally have washer fluid come out from the wipers directly? (In which case the original wipers and means to pipe the washer fluid to them remains a mystery)... or was the hood damaged at some point and the body repair person filled the hole the washer widget used to live in thinking it was a rust hole or some such (while leaving absolutely no trace detectable in the slightly charred paint which looks perfect otherwise?)... or did they simply forget to drill the hole in the hood and install the widget back in the day?... or is the hood not original to the car, but rather belonged to a car with the aformention ed and perhaps highly hypothetical model with plumbed wiper arms?

None of these options seems credible to me except maybe the last and I'm hoping someone will know the true answer and enlighten me.

Xenon

Do you have the book RALLY GIANTS Saab 96 and V4?  It focuses on The 95 but has some good 93 pics too.

Re: old Saab Rally pics

Not sure,do you have a picture of the cover?
I have lots of books about classic rallying. At least cars looked different in those days. Modern WRC,the
cars all look the same.If it wasnt for the stickers I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

1972 Saab 95 Rear Hatch Horizontal Trim

It appears to be stainless (no magnetisim) but did they chrome plate it too?
Yet one more piece to be refinished.

Re: 1973 Model 95: no widget for windscreen washer fluid.

Xenon:

I have a '73 96 and it had a worn nozzle on the hood. I replaced it with one from an on-line retailer that looked
close enough and it has worked great. I'd say get a new washer bottle and pump unit, new tubing and drill a new
hole in the hood for your nozzle and call it good.
