According to my '69 Bosch parts book, which lists all of the
distributors used in (built in) '66 through '68 V-4 cars, shows that the
first V-4 SAABs were built in August '66.

A friend of mine in NH went to Canada and brought one home in the late
'70s. No idea where it eventually ended up. He's got MS and has been in
a wheelchair for years.

"The motor alone is worth more than the price I am asking for the car."

Who's he kidding? What makes it so special?

Ice Racing

Speaking of ice racing, I could have made the early Feb dates had it
been cold at that time, alas the lake was open water. This weekend the
fun begins and I can't go. Pooh.

Scroll down for vintage SAAB photos, and try the other page numbers at
the top of the page too to see what looks like way too much fun.

A few. vSAAB is a car list, and a good one. Turbo! is a life style and
not for everyone.

Re: Ice Racing

There was a time when traction enhancements in tires were not allowed by
the rules (and some people tried embedding walnut shells in retreads for
traction) and SAABs were put in a class of their own because they
outclassed every other car out there. I've always said that the 96 was
the best snow car ever designed ... though I've never driven a 92 or 93
in snow.

Typical driving technique for a SAAB was to hang the tail out against
the snow bank and keep your foot in the gas.

Any distributor that fits a V-4 will "work", i.e. fit into the engine.
Whether it will perform the same way as your current one is a question
mark. Maybe it will perform better. Of course just because your engine
is out of a '73 doesn't mean that the distributor is original to that
engine. It might be the original from the '68.

Re: Cuhhhhraigst

We'll be crying not laughing if that motor sells for that price :).
I think the local saab boneyard is up to about $900 for u-pullit
condition unknown V4 engines, and they selling.

Re: Cuhhhhraigst

Yes, it is the same guy. and it's very annoying when doing a search
for Sonett on ebay, and it pulls up everything under his "ClubSonett"
stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with Saabs. Not to mention his
stuff is overpriced anyway.
