Galvanic isolators

If you were stranded on a des......no wait,
Does the team think that there is a recommended galvanic isolator - type/brand/size(capacity?)for a 60
foot NB? And is installation of such a DIY job or does it require a professional?
thanks in advance to those less electricity challenged than myself.

The whole thing is discussed at length here:

ISTR seeing an advert for a galvanic isolator that just plugged into the shoreline in one of the mags
recently, which would be your simplest solution.

Is it true...

that, in a NB loo,
when you use blue,
that, after a year or two,
an accumulation of poo
tends to form, like glue,
and this residue,
which just grew and grew,
reduces, for the crew,
tank capacity, which when new,
allowed us to do
those things that we do
for a week or two?

Our NB team
thinks that this has been
the reason the loo is less than pristine
Our boatyard says clean
your tanks with steam
and a strong water stream
and then for us to lean
towards going from blue to green
which would then mean
no accumulation in the latrine
of non-fermented waste which would mean
fewer trips to the pump-out machine.

Before you give me a verbal slap
I'm not at all a lover of rap -
I'm just an inquiring chap.
But I thought, before I unwrap

Re: Galvanic isolators

Thanks Bruce. This topic has arisen because our NB is left on shore supply now at its new marina location. I
will forward that link to the other syndicate members, some of which are knowledgeable about lectrickery.

Huddersfield Narrow Canal

Don't wait until the Spring to visit the Huddersfield Narrow Canal -
take a trip along it now!

I am pleased to tell you that the Pennine Waterways' 'Virtual Cruise'
along the Huddersfield Narrow Canal has been completely revised.

All of the photos have been replaced with larger clearer images, with
many new photos added. The photos are much sharper than the earlier ones
with many of the earlier photos being replaced with clear new ones.

The revised tour is a must for anyone thinking of visiting the canal as
it gives a much better idea than before of the dramatic scenery and
mixture of landscapes that the canal passes through. If you are too far
away to visit in person, then this 'virtual cruise' is the ideal
alternative!

The new 'Virtual Cruise' can be seen starting here:
http://www.penninewaterways.co.uk/huddersfield/hnc3.htm

Enjoy!

RE: Huddersfield Narrow Canal

Lovely job, Martin. I was reminded what a wonderful achievement the
restoration was.

One day, I promise myself, one day I will find someone to take me through on
a boat!

Re: Huddersfield Narrow Canal

Hi Guys, Those lovely pictures made me remember to remind you all about
Michel Van den Berghe's site of the pictures he has taken throughout
Britain.
When you enter the site it looks basic but when you keep going in you cover
an incredible range of canal pictures all taken by Michel himself!
It must have cost him a fortune to come here so many times from Belgium.
I meet him on the banks whenever I can.

You're welcome. I subsequently found the in-line plug in one for £99 on eBay; search for Safeshore
Galvanic Isolator.

IMHO, if you're leaving the boat in a marina on a shoreline for any length of time, you should put something in
to protect it, or else you and the boat next door end up as a great big galvanic cell, and wipe out your anodes
at best.

Hudderfield Narrow

An excellent tour Martin.I looked forward for many years to making a passage through the canal but BW
changed the operating rules and my boat does not meet the requirements  for a through
passage.Perhaps we may walk the whole of it one day. CKP
