The GPS readout on mine is very accurate as it gives speed to 2 decimal places - though of course the error is greater than this accuracy. Some GPSs round the figures down, or in the case of my Dad's old GPS won't work below 1.5 mph, and think its stopped. Maximum speed on a canal like the Leciester Section was usually about 3.5mph on the better bits, 3mph on the chesterfield, and 4mph is possible on most of the bigger deeper canals like the GU.
