Re: ergo saddles?

I have to agree, the Selle An-Atominca is a good saddle. My Cannondale T1 c
ame equiped with it and I ellected to try it out. I don't have the thousand
of miles on it yet, but it looks like a keeper. The 300 miles I did last w
eek is just getting it broke in. At least it didn't break anything on me. L

vital stove

Here is a new stove that I've never seen before, very compact with high
heat output, 20,000 btu. This unit folds up and will burn biomass.
Looks smaller than other biomass burners I've looked at yet holds
larger pans. Weighs 1.5lb and without the need to carry fuel that's
better than most camp backpack stoves. Has anyone ever used one? Like
to read a few reviews before spending $80.00 on anything. Littlebug is
another small stove that does not use batteries but also does not fold
up. I just got a cataloge from Piragis Northwoods Co. A canoe camping
specialty group from Ely Minnesota. This company has a yearly sale of
used camping and canoe equipment at end of season www.piragis.com I
don't know anything about this company but canoe camping does share
many of the same equipment requirements of my homeless cycle touring.

Fender and Rack Mounting

Jeff, I may have gotten this idea from someone on this list, it is not
original with me. On my touring bike and my Bike Friday i have
installed stainless steel "studs" into the eyelets using the permanent
type thread lock. Proceed as follows: If I'm not mistaken, the
eyelets are treaded for 10/32 fasteners. Purchase the correct
quantity 0f round head, 10/32 by 1 1/2 inch stainless machine screws
and a couple of 10/32 plain hex nuts plus the same number of nylock
10/32 nuts as machine screws. Remove your fenders, racks etc, flush
out the eyelets as best you can with a solvent that will remove any
oil and grease then screw in the machine screws from the back of the
eyelets after putting a drop or two of permanent locktite near the
head. You will now have a mounting "stud that you can slip the fender
and rack stays over. You may not have clearance for the screw head on
the lower eyelet on the cog side to allow the chain to seat properly.
If this is the case, add the locktite to the end of the machine screw
and screw it in from the front , AFTER, you thread one of your plain
hex nuts all the way to the head. Screw it in just to the point where
it barely exits the inside of the eyelet. After you have this
threaded in, hold the machine screw in place with your screw driver
and thread the hex nut tight against the eyelet, this will lock the
eyelet in place till the locktite sets up in about 24 hours. If you
do not do this, you will thread the screw in further as you use the
nylock nuts to fasten down your stays. It will be safe to remove this
nut later if you want, I leave it on as it is insurance against the
stud getting loose. Now for the fun part. These studs are gong to be
longer than you need. After setting the stays in place, one at a
time, thread the extra hex nut and tighten it down as if it would be
your final mounting, then cut the stud to length with a hack saw or,
better yet, a cut off wheel mounted in your handy dandy Dremel tool.
Protect the rest of the bike from the metal residue from the cutting

RE: helmet speakers

If you don't mind paying the money (I do so I don't have these) you
could always go with the Oakley Sunglasses with the built in MP3 player

Re: [FWD: Warmshowers.org update, Spring, 2009]

That's right Gene...

Notice the shout-out in there (FYI I'm Chris Russo if you forget)?
We are looking to translate the site into Spanish and French, which will
hopefully bring the network to more people globally. We'll keep you posted
on when exactly that will happen.

Enjoy your rides and Spring tours.

more road songs

My favorite that I've sung around the world, well from Europe to Korea is "Rocky Mountain Time" by John Prine

"Lord I'm so mixed up and lonely I can't even make friends with my
brain, I'm too young to get where I'm going but I'm too old to go back
again"

and never forget :Wandering Star" sung by Lee Marvin in Paint your wagon.

Re: patching tubes

I always find that after I open a tube of tire glue, by the next time I use

it, the glue has dried up. I can't find a source to buy glue without more
patches. Any ideas?
