The Western Left, the Soviet Union, and Marxism

This article was posted on the website of the new and interesting Envisioning a Post-Capitalist Order website, which is an ambitious collaborative project of  a wide variety of socialist sources. The article is by the chief editor of Science and Society. It defends the idea that the former Soviet Union was somehow "socialist" against rival socialist viewpoints on the nature of the old USSR. As these things go, it is a fairly sophisticated  defense of this viewpoint which makes a lot of concessions retrospectively that would have been much more downplayed in anything written during the heyday of Stalinist rule.

History of J. Posadas

Anyone interested in the bizarrely fascinating of J.Posadas and the unique positions of the Posadas
Fourth International should join the Leftist Trainspotters Yahoo Group since it has an otherwise closed
archive. Begin with message 107353. An ex-Posadas follower is putting together an historical analysis
of Posadas and his views including calling for a Soviet nuclear first strike, the alleged partial
regeneration of the Soviet bureaucracy, and much else.
