When Rick Is Right , He is Very Right ! ( i. e. Correct , Astute , Articulate )

To Fellow Members of CSR , We understand that not all of you agree with the traditional Socialist position of
" No War But Class War! " We do not demand blind allegiance to Party line even from even from or members. We are
Socialisrs and proud of that fact . As Longshoreman's leader Mike J. Quill used to say , "I would rather be
called a Red by the rats than a rat by the Reds " Please remember that refusal to stand up for one 's friends who
happen to be Socialists, led to the Palmer Raids , the legal lynching of Sacco & Vanzetti, and the
Rosenberg's . Author Jack Reed , Labor activist Big Bill Mooney, and civil rights activist and NAACP
founder, W E B Dubois all died in exile because of their involvement with the socialist movement and
subsequent persecution for that involvement. Given our lineage of martyrs, we hope you will forgive us
for trumpeting our successes. As inter
nationalists, offers of support from Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK are a big deal to
us . The signatories to "The Peace Groups Unite .." are solely responsible for its content . Rick was kind
enough to forward the piece and acknowledge that our group developed the idea of the vigils. So please
,send remonstrations to me. I love debate. As my comrade and friend Pete Seeger says in Talking Union
Blues, " That if you don't let red-baiting break you up, and you don't let stool pigeons and vigilantes
break you up, and you don't let race hatred break you up, you'll win; what I mean is, take it easy, but take it.
" Happy New Year and Hope to see you Sunday, Gabriel Kierran Ross, member Green-Socialist Alliance &
Socialist Party of The United States, Green Alliance US . . '. .

Reminiscence

Our good little BWB list has awakened from its usual leisurely
semi-slumber -- galvanized and spurred by Liquor Talk. If this is where the
Revolution is headed, well, we'd better run, catch up with it -- incorporate
it. Socialized Stills. I should add that all of this talk makes me, a
teetotaler for decades, feel uncommonly Puritanical. I'm not that, and I
wasn't always Dry.

The conventional mail yesterday brought a card from an old, old friend, Joe
Janes, now living on the western Washington coast. As always, he promised
to call -- but, this time, aware of my own medical vicissitudes and the
fact that he is ten years my senior, I immediately called him and we had an
extensive visit.

I recalled when I had first seen him. He arrived at Knob Hill, the Coconino
forest fire headquarters at Flag, having just assumed duty as a fire lookout
at East Pocket -- on the rim above Oak Creek Canyon. He was driving a
Willys Station Wagon with New York plates, smoking a pipe, cocky as hell. A
friend, standing with me, groaned, "Not another Wise Eastern Bastard." But
everyone immediately liked Joe, impressed with the fact that he was a
veteran of the Battle of the Bulge. More recently, he had been doing grad
work in Anthro at University of Arizona. He never returned to that and he
stayed with the Forest Service for years, eventually shifting to the Park
Service from which he formally retired. He and his wife left New Mexico for
Wet Weather.

Soon after we met, we had a heated argument about the Battle of
Ticonderoga [French and Indian War], during which he remarked
superciliously that "we whipped your Abenaki butts." But we quickly
became life long friends.

Green-Socialist Alliance

Friend Joanne, You asked " What is the Green -Socialist Alliance ? " We began as a local group of democratic
socialist feminists with a particular focus on environmentalism and anti-militarism. A few of us go as
far back as the anti-Viet Nam war movement.More were radicalized by anti-nuclear power/weapons
movement of the late 70's through the early 80's.Encouragingly most of local membership is under 25 . With
about a two dozen members the group is the largest Left group in this area since the depression. In casting
about for words to define our politics we hit on the phrase libertarian -socialist eco-feminist We wanted
to clearly separate ourselves from the paternalism of Social Democracy and horrors of totalitarian
Communism. Since our group had women in the leadership from its inception, feminism seem an an ongoing
process not just a goal. Since our group was active both as environme
ntalists and within the Green Party locally the Green part seemed natural enough The Socialist
word has caused us the most problems.Several groups including the leadership of the local Green Party have
distanced themselves from our group even thought we make up by far the largest number of Green activists in
the area. My last post celebrated the decision of the local peace group chairman to take a stand against red
baiting. Because of the support and inspiration we received from groups and individuals across the
country and the globe we decided to open our discussion site greensocialistalliance <at> yahoogroups to
like minded individuals everywhere. I apologize for making your personal invitation so public but for
right now we have just one moderator and he is very tried.. Yours for Peace and Economic Justice, Gabe Ross,
convener Green-Socialist Alliance PS Agreement with the moderator is not required in order to post add

Committee Of The Revolutionary Internationalist Movement statement on the tsunami

Three Parts from: http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/AWorldToWinNewsService/

(1) Committee Of The Revolutionary Internationalist Movement statement on the tsunami

(2) The question of warning: were so many tsunami deaths inevitable?

(3) The tsunamiÂ’s aftermath in India (By A World to Win Correspondents in India)
 CoRIM statement on the tsunami

3 January 2005. A World to Win News Service. The following is a 1 January statement by the Committee of the
Revolutionary Internationalist Movement, the embryonic centre of the worldÂ’s
Marxist-Leninist-Maoist parties and organisations.

The year 2005 has begun under a terrible cloud. The tsunami that devastated the coastal areas of a number of
countries in Southeast and South Asia has wiped out huge numbers of people and left even more homeless and
destitute. The Revolutionary Internationalist Movement extends its deepest sympathy to all those who
are enduring such great suffering.

At the current stage of human development and mankindÂ’s scientific knowledge, earthquakes and tsunamis
still represent a terrible menace. But even the means that do exist for early warning are divided very
unevenly and unjustly in the world. The ability of the people to minimise the damage caused by natural
disasters and to respond quickly and effectively when one strikes is determined to a great degree by the
form of organisation of human society, in specific countries and in the world as a whole.

Throughout the world as well as in the affected regions, people are heartbroken by the death and suffering
and are looking for some way to help. But for the most part the masses are sidelined, allowed only to be
frustrated observers of the unfolding human tragedy. The rulers of this world, the imperialists and the
reactionary ruling classes allied with them, will use this calamity to appear as the only possible
saviours. In reality it is the system they profit from, preside over and enforce that is the principal

Nepal PeopleÂ’s War enters strategic offensive with fierce attacks, "first phase of the strategic offensive has begun!"

Nepal peopleÂ’s war enters strategic offensive with fierce attacks

3 January 2004. A World to Win News Service. From an AWTW correspondent in Nepal. As the peopleÂ’s war in
Nepal approaches the completion of its tenth year, a continuous wave of military actions starting in the
middle of November has shaken the whole country. More than a dozen actions involving heavy fighting
occurred in the initial month of what the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) has declared is the first phase
of the strategic offensive. These military actions have been slightly different than in the past. They
centred on highways, government district headquarters and cities.

For the first time, PeopleÂ’s Liberation Army (PLA) fighters succeeded in an organised attack in NepalÂ’s
capital, Kathmandu. On 18 December fighters of the 13th Battalion of the PLA Bethan Memorial Fifth
Brigade launched a fierce attack on an Area Police Post located just 17 kilometres from the Royal Palace in
broad daylight. They overran it within 10 minutes and captured 31 weapons and left an Inspector and four
militarised police dead. The next day, in Sindhupalchok district, 100 kilometres east of Kathmandu,
fighters of the 14th battalion of the same brigade ambushed a Royal Army unit as they were exiting their
barracks in search of Maoists. In the heavy fighting, 15 Royal Army members lost their lives. The PLA
captured a dozen sophisticated weapons, including INSAS rifles provided by India, and thousands of
rounds of ammunition. Three daring fighters gave their lives for this victory. The same day, a small unit
of the 15th battalion attacked a police post in Hetauda, a city in
eastern Nepal, and destroyed it after capturing seven weapons and a communications set.

Party representatives announced that these successful actions marked the first phase of the strategic
offensive and the beginning of a campaign in eastern Nepal, along with other regions, to move toward the
nationwide seizure of power according to the PartyÂ’s strategic plan.

On 22 December, within a week of the attack in Kathmandu, fighters of the PLA Lisne-Gam Third Brigade
attacked a checkpoint on the main highway in Kailali district in western Nepal. The action began around

Fw: SUCI calls for Tsunami Relief

SS.U.C.I. ON TSUNAMI IN SOUTH INDIA

The Tamilnadu State Organising Committee, SUCI, on learning of the unprecedented destruction wreaked by
the killer Tsunami set off by the undersea earthquake off Sumatra, immediately began efforts to deliver
relief to the affected people.

The Central Committee of the SUCI called for all states Party units to immediately begin collection of
funds, medicines, clothes, baby food other relief material and enroll volunteers. The Kerala State
Committee is running relief and medical camps in Karunagapally of Quilon District and Haripad coastal
area of Alleppey, the most seriously affected areas. In Andhra Pradesh, efforts are being taken for
relief activities particularly medical aid in Machilipattanam. In Tamilnadu, fact-finding teams are
working in Nagapattinam, Kanyakumari and Caddalore. Apprehending a health and medical crisis, the
Party is taking steps to set up medical camps in some of the worse affected areas.

The Party finds that there is considerable relief work taking place in the affected areas. However, the
urgency and degree with which the Central and State government machinery have been mobilized are far from
adequate, falling woefully short of what is expected in such a devastating national calamity.

The Tamilnadu State Organising Committee of SUCI will submit a memorandum incorporating the findings of
the fact-finding team to the Chief Minister on Tuesday, December 04, 2005 to draw attention to the severe
limitations in the relief efforts and relief facilitation

S.U.C.I. GUJARAT ON TSUNAMI RELIEF
