Advani asks BJP Chief Ministers to declare their assets.

Recently, Advani has been attacking corruption on a regular basis. Today he
asked BJP Chief Ministers to declare their assets. In a second statement, he
says that BJP formed a task force in 2009 to bring black monies in foreign
banks, but Congress Party has been non-respondent.

New Delhi:  Pledging to set an example in the fight against black money, BJP-led
NDA today said it would direct its chief ministers and senior most leaders to
declare their assets and asked the government to make all efforts to bring
Indian slush funds stashed in tax havens.

Senior NDA leaders held a press conference to present the report of a task force
appointed by BJP to look into the issue of Indian black money stashed abroad and
ways of dealing with the issue.

"We liked (the report) and the NDA also said it is appropriate that all those
holding political office, whether we are members of Parliament, whether we are
leaders of political parties recognised by the Election Commission....

".... or even Central office-bearers of the political parties, or MPs. We would
like all of them to be obligated to tell the government that we have no money
abroad," NDA Working chairperson L K Advani said.
The NDA leaders endorsed the suggestions of the report which targets corrupt
    politicians as well.

"There should be a general, not specifically against any persons, FIR against
(those keeping black money abroad). It has been done in the case of terrorism in
Punjab, in the North East... in Nagaland," Advani said.

The senior leader quoted a recent survey which claimed that the general
perception among people about politicians is that around 60 per cent of them are
    corrupt.

Taking a cue from Advani, Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal said, "A big
issue has come up in the country...NDA chief ministers should first give in
writing and announce their assets and tell the government that it can seize any
    black money they have."

Asked if he agreed with Badal and whether Karnataka Chief Minister B S
Yeddyurappa should also declare his assets, Advani replied in the affirmative,
saying all BJP and NDA chief ministers should do so.

He said in 2009, the BJP had made a task force to get back the money that had
been stashed away in Swiss banks and other tax havens abroad.

Writ Petition by IIT Kanpur Alumni about labour law violations at IITK

      Friends,

We, a group of IIT Kanpur Alumni have filed a Writ Petition in the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court. The Writ Petition is about the gross violation of labour laws at IIT Kanpur. As petitioners, we have prayed before the High Court that there are a very large number of Contract labours at this Institute employed in building and infrastructure construction work, messes, security, sanitation, horticulture, maintenance etc. Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act and Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Rules have been promulgated for their security and welfare. In section 12 of this Act, licensing of contractors is needed. It also requires rest-rooms, wholesome drinking water, latrines and urinals, First-aid facilities etc. at the workplace and Minimum wages to workers. The Act affixes the responsibilities for the compliances of these provisions on the Principal Employer (here IIT Kanpur) in case the contractor fails in his duty.

In addition other Acts like Minimum Wages Act, Employees' State Insurance Act, Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act are also there for these labour forces.
Yet, despite the best of the efforts made by a host of concerned people, including the ex-Alumni, Professors of the Institute, socially aware persons and groups of workers there has not been any satisfactory improvement in the compliance of the various labour laws there at IIT Kanpur.

The petition requests the High Court to direct the Respondents to comply with the labour laws in letter and spirit. It also requests for creation of a Monitoring Committee consisting of IIT Kanpur Alumni and Professors, labours and labour department officials. It prays for certain definite procedures and roles assigned to this monitoring committee.  There are a large number of evidences enough to prove the fact that all these labour laws are not being implemented properly at IIT Kanpur. In fact an electronic petition “Stop violating contract worker rights in IITK”  has also been initiated for this purpose which has been signed so far by 1316 ex Alumni from IIT Kanpur.

The petitioners are me, Shailendra Singh, Professor at IIM Lucknow, K C Joshi, renowned Mathematics teacher, Bridge player Shantanu Rastogi, Railway officer Prithul Gupta, Defence Account officer D K Rai, Physics teacher Shaalu Rai, all based at Lucknow. Ashok Pandey is the counsel for the petitioners. The date of first hearing of the Writ Petition shall be Friday (02/02/2011).

While there is common knowledge that labour laws are being flouted by many contractors, yet  a very large section of the Alumni of IIT Kanpur feel that this being a premier educational Institution, it shall take lead in getting all the labour laws in its complete form. Thus, there is a need to initiate the process of implementation of labour laws in fullness and our Writ petition is a step in this direction. We hope to get suitable guidelines from the High Court which shall later be extended to other places as well.

Your support and assistance for future course of action in this regards is always solicited.

      Amitabh Thakur,
      IIM Lucknow

There is a real danger that Egypt will be fall in the hands of Muslim Brotherhood. Al-Quaida, Hamas, and other radical Muslim terrorist groups came out from Muslim Brotherhood. Obama administration is having dialogs with Muslim Brotherhood for replacing Mubarak in Egypt. After getting burnt many times in the Middle East, why can't US keep its nose out of Egypt? There is a real danger that the Muslim Brotherhood will bring Sharia law in Egypt and destroy mummies, pyramids, and historical monuments there. Please write to White House and Hillary Clinton, and protest their missteps in Egypt. US has no business getting too involved there. See what happened in Iran when Shah was replaced by Khmeini under US pressure. Please watch below the Fox news video on Muslim Brotherhood.

Even if Muslim Brotherhood’s upsurge in Cairo is an Islamist war cry and Hosni Mubarak remains Egypt’s last hope as a liberal, secular Muslim ruler, the message is welcome — the old must give way to the new.

A time comes in the life of every nation when the accumulated anger and frustration of the people makes them say “let’s choose a new path. I love this spirit. The spirit of an angry Chanakya helping Chandragupta overthrow Nanda.

Muslim Brotherhood may prove to be a talibanizing force in Egypt. The radical group has been kept away from mainstream politics since the days of Nasser, who brought land reforms, nationalized the Suez canal and rose to become the undisputed leader of the Arab world.

There are fears that soon we may see the destruction of pyramids, mummies and the remaining symbols of Egypt’s pre-Islamic past, as was witnessed in Afghanistan. But Muslim Brotherhood representatives are taking care not to spread fanatic messages. Reassuring Coptic Christians, a note on the organization's website says: “Prophet Muhammad declared that Christians and Muslims the world over are his ‘citizens’ — one people albeit with different faiths. The attack on Christians and churches is condemned by Islam. of course, they have warned the US not to lend support to another puppet regime and instead help the democratic movement. Commenting on an attack on Christians on New Year, in which 21 people were killed, Hesham writes on the MB website: “Suspicion falls upon Al Qaeda, which has attacked churches in the past, most recently in Iraq. I pray, those responsible are swiftly brought to justice and rot in jail for the rest of their lives. If this is indeed Al Qaeda, who proffer themselves as ‘holy warriors’, they have committed treason against Islam and the Prophet Muhammad in the vilest manner.

We can only hope that this will not be the kind of phony rhetoric we used to hear from the butchers in Kashmir and the Taliban in Afghanistan. For Kashmir’s Yasin Maliks and Geelanis, using globally acceptable terminology becomes a tool to gain mass support. Once they are suitably placed, the real intolerant hands begin to act.

Do we have a lesson from Cairo for the rulers in Delhi? The nation has never experienced such a low before. Our students are humiliated and radio-tagged by an arrogant US, but the government fails to protect their honour and dignity. A deputy collector is burnt alive with the connivance of black-marketeers having strong political support. Chiefs of the forces, whom we used to revere as epitomes of bravery and patriotism with their pictures hung on school walls, appear before politicians to explain their conduct in corruption cases and the retired top brass is put in the question box for shady deals shaming Kargil martyrs. The judiciary is mired in questionable money-making charges and senior journalists turn lobbyists. The Supreme Court characterizes the black money of Indians stashed away in Swiss banks (several lakh crores) as “theft and “plunder, yet the government of the day chooses not to do anything about it. The Prime Minister is one who is not the real one, and the real one has no accountability to the people of the nation. The present regime is walking on ice thinner than what we see in Cairo.

Yes, hope was generated when we participated in a demonstration against corruption in New Delhi last week. Maybe something would be done by those who are apolitical and still enjoy some credibility in the hearts of the people. But it looked as if they were targeting someone from the Mars or Saturn for the crimes of corruption, and shielding the corrupt. The well-intentioned people who gathered and provided an engine to such a mass expression of angst and disapproval to corruption couldn’t make up their minds whom to put in the question box.

At least the Egyptians are not so vague and circumspect.

Unless the Indian movement rises against the unholy regime that has protected and nurtured the corrupt and is trying to foist on the nation a family rule actively supported by media houses with a blinkered vision, neither would its credibility percolate to the common rural folk, nor would it gain momentum. It could at best get into coffee table books.

The leader of any such uprising has to take a risk on his head, like JP, and call for the complete overthrow of the regime. The looters and the plunderers are in our neighbourhood. The same tribe that testified against Bhagat Singh and the revolutionaries of 1857. They rule like Hosni Mubarak, like Saddam, and award the yielders. Unmask them — ruthlessly. The political system that nourishes them is voted to power by us. Rip it apart and have a new system injected into the ruling mechanism, which is not colonial. A whitewash over the already crumbling walls won’t help. Blood in the veins that move the caravan of change has to be fresh.

The rest is all hogwash, including the fashionable admiration of the Cairo upsurge."

        My Comments:

This is an excellent article. Of course, Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Kalmadi, Ashok Chavan, etc. are all corrupt persons or are shielding corrupt persons but BJP too had done a disservice to the nation by continuing with
Yeddyurappa who is considered to be a corrupt pereson.  In fact, it has lost votes of many honest Indians by defending corrupt Yeddyurappa.  Could Mr. Tarun explain why BJP had to continue with corrupt people?  As for Kashmir problem created by Geelani, Lone, etc., a majority of Indian Muslims think that Kashmir should go to Pakistan. They all believe in two nations theory. So, what to do?  In fact, Indian Govt. has already yielded to the separatists and is continually surrendering to them.  So, the day is not far off when Kashmir would slip away from India.  Of course, we cannot expel so many crores of Indian Muslims from India but a serious thinking is required on the subject.

Raja alone 'didn't gulp crores': BJP
Press Trust of India, Updated: February 02, 2011 17:57 IST
New Delhi:  BJP today dubbed the arrest of former Telecom Minister A Raja as
"too little too late" and demanded that others involved in the 2G spectrum scam
should also be brought to book.

"The arrest is too little too late. It is very unfair to say that Raja alone had
gulped Rs.1.76 lakh crore. Who are the rest of the people? BJP categorically
wants to know that," BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.

He said Raja's arrest was just beginning of an exercise.

"Please don't give credit to the government for the arrest. Government has to
answer many questions before this finally comes to an end," he said.

If the lost money had been used only for one development purpose, for example in
containing the cost of petrol/diesel how much of a common man's burden of a

            Birds duck the dirty Mula-Mutha

The water body at Kavade, just 3 kms from Loni was the hotspot for migratory birds. It is now filled with hyacinth and garbage, thus destroying a potential bird sanctuary within the limits of Pune

With insufficient and ineffective Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in Pune and indiscriminate dumping of garbage, the Mula-Mutha Rivers have not only turned into stinking strips of nullahs but also carry their toxic waters downstream. As a result, hundreds of villages downstream receive toxic river water, which they use for drinking as not all of them can afford water treatment plants. This has resulted in grave resentment and loud protests from hundreds of villagers who are demanding that Pune should ensure that no sewage is discharged into the rivers. Added to this distressing situation is the threat to bird habitats being destroyed, in these water bodies. Birds can't talk, so they have apparently decided to protest by boycotting some pockets which are bird sancturies-in-the-making.

BBMP (Greater Bangalore Municipal Corporation) to probe work code scam

BBMP (Greater Bangalore Municipal Corporation) to probe work code scam

The BBMP has decided to probe the multi-crore work code scam, announced
              Mayor S K Nataraj.

Pandemonium broke out twice during the Council meeting of the Palike,
leading to the adjournment of the House over the work code scam.

As soon as the proceedings began on Tuesday (01-02-2011), the Opposition
parties, the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) opened a front against
the ruling BJP and demanded a Lokayukta probe into the Rs 2,000 crore-work
code scam, which has figured in the BBMP's audit report.

Raising the matter, Congress leader M Nagaraj and JD(S) leader Padmanabha
Reddy levelled allegations of inaction against the Mayor into the
multi-crore scam despite the audit report exposed how the BBMP officials
issued work codes, put up files to clear the bills of the works which did
not take place and forged signatures to benefit the contractors.

              Finally agrees

The Mayor initially refused to order a Lokayukta probe, saying that the scam
was traced well before the payments were made and thus public money was
              saved.

Not convinced with the Mayor's statement, the Opposition members swarmed
into the well of the house and staged a dharna demanding a probe.

Later, the Mayor assured the agitating members that a probe will be
              conducted into the scam.
Speaking with mediapersons, Nataraj dubbed the demonstration by Opposition
Leader M Nagaraj as a mere media stunt to hog the limelight.

"The whole exercise by the Opposition leader is only aimed at appearing on
television channels. They (Opposition members) are publicity-hungry and have
no concern for people's woes. They are not letting genuine problems of the
public come up for discussion," the Mayor said.

Bangladesh: 15-year-old girl dies during punishment straight out of the Qur'an
Qur'an 24:2: "The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication,- flog
each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case,
in a matter prescribed by Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day: and
let a party of the Believers witness their punishment."
Cruel and unusual punishment, and orders to suppress a natural aversion to human
suffering -- straight out of the mouth of Allah. These are the consequences.
"Cleric held after Bangladesh teen whipped to death," from Agence France-Presse,
February 2 (thanks to all who sent this in):
BANGLADESHI police arrested four people including a Muslim cleric today after a
teenage girl, who was accused of having an extra-marital affair with her cousin,
                was whipped to death.
Allah said "flog each of them with a hundred stripes." No word on the man, but
they got right to work on the teenage girl. The poor and marginalized
consistently bear the brunt of Sharia's brutality.
Fifteen-year-old Hena Begum died in hospital on Monday after a village court in
the southern Bangladesh district of Shariatpur sentenced her to 100 lashes, said
local police chief A.K.M Shahidur Rahman.
"We have arrested one of the clerics (who sat on the village court) and three
villagers including the wife of the man who Hena Begum had an illicit
relationship with," Mr Rahman told AFP.
"Let not compassion move you," said the supposed creator of the universe.
According to Mr Rahman, the teenage girl was "beaten mercilessly" by the family
of the married man, who was also Hena's cousin, after the affair was discovered.
"Let not compassion move you," said the allegedly "compassionate and merciful."
The teenager was then handed to the village court, which publicly whipped her
until she passed out and was taken to hospital, where she died seven days later,
                he said.
"Let not compassion move you," says the being whom Muhammad said ordered him to
establish this law -- Sharia law -- over the entire world.
In conservative rural parts of Muslim-majority Bangladesh, rights groups say it
is common for women to be publicly whipped for "crimes" such as adultery despite
a ban on such religious punishments.....

Islam is evil, evil and evil, all the way through! Such is Islam which was
created by the Arabic pedophile rapist of children, robber, slave-owner
(including sexual slaves such as young Jewish captive girls) and mass murderer
of the Jews, Mohammed, in order to construct pure Arabian kingdom and legitimize
his and his tribe’s evil and savage Arabic socio-cultural practises!

Islam has been sent by Allah to replace the two previous corrupt Abrahamic
faiths, with their heretical views on compassion and individual conscience:

Hey sean, Islam was sent by the Devil to your savage Arabic Mohammed!
Judeo-Christian religion is about our shared God anger at evilness and
reconciliation through Salvation for repenters; thus He gave the Ten
Commandments that founded civilized modern Western law. But Islam and its false
Islamic god are created by the Arabic Pedophile rapist Mohammed to legitimize
evilness including slavery rape of children/women, both boys and girls,
including conquest captives such as Jewish children, and the first systematic
racial Genocide of the Jews to create pure Nazi-like Arabian kingdom – so you
                see the difference now?!

OT: Pushback from Mubarak beginning in Cairo, with news reports of government
thugs on horseback and camels clashing with demonstrators. Egyptian Museum
                firebombed.
With services grinding to a halt, food running out, riots and anarchy will
surely follow. The army is still sitting on its hands.
The MSM is not paying close attention. Yesterday CNN devoted almost complete
programming to news from Cairo, with the sentiment seeming to be that the
outcome was more or less settled, with kudos being given to Obama for his
masterful handling of the situation. Today Fox has completely dropped the ball,
with an interview with Rupert Murdoch introducing his new iGizmo substituting
                for breaking news.

A better source of breaking and ongoing news is actually Al Jazeera English Live
http://english.aljazeera.net/watch_now/ . Be sure your inverse AJ filter is in
                place.
It's not over yet people. If Mubarak has unleashed pro-government forces and if
the Muslim Brotherhood responds in kind, it could get bloody.

It is now Wednesday night in Cairo. Friday prayers, where MB agitation is sure to
occur followed by highly excited people shouting Allahu Akbar streaming from the
mosques, are a day and a half away. For those who are concerned about markets,
there is basically today to make whatever adjustments to your portfolios you
                think might be prudent.

There is no morality in Islam. There is no right or wrong.
There is only what Allah (Mohammed) forbids (haram) or what Allah (Mohammed)
                permits (halal).

New Delhi:  The BJP has said that the government should not make A Raja and
Suresh Kalmadi scapegoats in the 2G spectrum issue and Commonwealth Games scams
and asserted that since all decisions were taken by the Union Cabinet and the
Prime Minister, a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe alone could bring
                  out the truth.

"The decisions by (former Telecom Minister) A Raja and other ministers, were
taken with the permission of the Union Cabinet and the Prime Minister somewhere
or the other during the process... so who is Raja's Godfather and who all were
involved should be revealed to the nation which is the right of the people," BJP
                  President Nitin Gadkari told reporters.

He stuck to the BJP stand that until a JPC is formed, the whole truth will not
                  come out.

"It will be an eyewash until the whole truth is revealed and the inquiry is made
till the last point," Gadkari said.
He alleged that the Congress and UPA were involved in the 2G Spectrum allocation
scam and without them this scandal was not possible.

"Others cannot get away with a clean image by sacrificing Kalmadi and Raja -
though the two may be guilty. The government cannot make them scapegoats and get
                  away," he said.

He also alleged that the Prime Minister should be held responsible for the
policy decisions on 2G spectrum allocation.

"The principal secretary wrote a note that the Group of Ministers taking out the
pricing clause would be harmful for the nation. If the Prime Minister had
accepted it then, this situation, perhaps, would not have arisen," Gadkari said.

He claimed that "under some pressure" the Prime Minister over-ruled the
                  principal secretary and gave permission.

"In this department (Telecom), in a way a license was given by the Central
government to openly indulge in corruption. The Government seems to have
outsourced this department to DMK," Gadkari said.

He demanded that a full inquiry should be conducted to bring out the truth "in
                  black and white".
