Hi all
Last sat'day Shilp & ravi shankar went to Mehadipatnam school and spend 3 hours there.
Observations of Shilpsa :
1. For the academic year 2010-11 total strength of the school is 104 (Still admissions are going on, expecting some more students till this month end).
2. Class Wise Strength:
1st Class à 15, 2nd Class à 33, 3rd Class à 22, 4th Class à 20,5th Class à 14
3. Head Master is planning for the field program in the next week at nearby slum area. Field program is nothing but creating educational awareness in parents and getting the child labours to the school. He requested our TAMD group members to join with him on coming Saturday (3rd July-2010) at 7.30am.
4. There are only two teachers today (Head Master and Tara singh). Nagaraju garu is on leave it seems. Headmaster is bit unhappy with Nagaraju garu (An employee who has appointed by TAMD), since he is not regular to the school.
5. They requested for Two Almaras (Racks for arranging library books). Now they kept all the books on floor.
6. They have got Text Books from Government for all the classes. And now they are waiting for notebooks. I got the details for the note books.
Single Ruled à 224 (for 3rd, 4th, 5th Classes)
Plain à 224 (“ “ “ “ “ “ )
One side Ruled à 112 (“ “ “ “ “ “ )
Check Ruled à 240 (for 1st and 2nd Classes)
These are the books sufficient for whole academic year. Each student gets 6 books.
7. Actual classes are not yet started, since many of the students are not yet returned from summer vacation. Regular classes will be starting in the first week of July.
8. Uniform is almost ready for the students (Giving by Naveen Garu, IBM) and ordered for shoe.
9. Many of the students did not wear chappals.
10. Building construction is at the ending stage. Some more finishing works are left out.
NOTE : I am sending same mail to All Hyderabad members. Hyd members plase share your views and give reply to that mail, will send summry of our discussion to main group.Hi allWe are not visiting this school regularly. Previously (till 2years back) our members Srinivas, Veena, Vani, Karthik & jayaram used to go school regularly and observed studnets progress and all. We need dedicated volunteers like them. I think we need plan of action for this school atleast in this academic year 2010-11.
New academic year already started.
Yesterday i spoke with Naresh garu, (Head master of Mehadipatnam School) he said now the strength is 110 and enrollment is still going..
Below mentioned items needs to be completed at the earliest.3. Building work completion
1. Note books distribution
2. Slippers distribution
4. Opening ceremony
5. Giving Braily books to Nagaraju garu(we appointed him there as teacher)Apart from these we also need to do following (these are just my suggestions)
1.Track the student progress (eg. taking private classes to the weaker students)2. Track the attendance
3. Track drop outs if any4. Relation between Nagaraju garu & students5. Appoint at least 2 teachers for this academic year
6. Increase extra circular activities (when our members visit the school, we have to do this, like, we have to tell them stories, paintings, GK, dressing sense, neatness etc.) - Its a most priority one.
7. Appoint one teacher for yoga / dance / or for some otherI think, we need to have a Project Coordinator kind of person here to plan and execute all these activities. whole idea is to have atleast 2 or 3 members to visit every weekend and spend their valuable time with kids, by observing their progress, teachers progress, their requirements and others, later they will update to group. WeIn our previous meetings, Prsanathi, Silpa, Geethika, Sailaja & hema sailaja said they are ready to go on weekends to teach the children. I request other members also to join in this Project.Anyone interested to take Project Cordinator Responsibility? Please share your views............
Note: apart from this Project we don't have big projects. all are very small, which ends every month by issuing one cheque. so we have to concentrate on this school & will look for another schools / projects.

Yes Satya, we need to go along with the headmaster and know the community. Anyone went to Field Program before?
Thanks,

Hi all,
Last weekend updates :
Shilpa went to School for Field program. this is her opinion & observations :
Today, I went to Mehdipatnam School at 7.30 am and from there went to Bojagutta slum near by, along with Head master Naresh garu. Three more persons from Loksatta Party and two persons from M.V foundation joined us in this Educational awareness program.
We all went to door to door and enquired about children, who are not going to school and some dropouts. We found around 12 children as above and convinced their parents to join them in the school. It was all gone till 10.45 am.
M.V foundation people are specifically working on this educational awareness in slum areas. They have appointed a lady, only for working on this. Every day she goes to the particular slum and tracks the children and get them to the school. Also they maintain a record of the same. It is really good work.
We returned to school and spend ½ hr for the status enquiry. Mean time Diwakar garu spend his time with school children from 9 am to 11 am along with one more volunteer (I don’t know her name).
As per Head master’s report now school strength is increased to 110. And 10 more children are expecting from today’s program.
Also I met Nagaraju garu (visually challenged person who has appointed by TMAD) and talked to him. Currently he is teaching Telugu and Social for 4th and 5th class students. He said, if required he will teach other subjects also except Mathematics (Since, he can’t use board).
And one more thing is, the three persons Mr. M.G.Sai Baba (GHMC Executive Committee member), Mr. Mahender and Mr. Prasad (Working in IBM) from Loksatta party are ready to work with us. They want to support our activities.
I request our members to arrange a meet with them once and discuss regarding our current activities and further plans. So that it would be helpful to analyse, in which aspects we can utilize their support.
Thanks a lot for your patience in reading long mail. Please share your views.

As Naveen garu providing Unifroms & shoes, no need of purchasing slippers and we can use that money to some other purpose.
This week we have to buy note books (santhosh from chennai mailed regarding one ngo those who are selling note books manufacuterd by their members / benificiers, i will ask them and update by EOD).
Nagaraju garu (vidya volunteer, appointed by TMAD) is asking for salary hike, I said to him we will think and let u know in next month because principal garu said, he is irrugualr to school. that's the reason.
another updates of this week :
Issued cheque to Sahitya-Madhuri (lively hood case)
issued cheque to Dr. Khader garu (b. kothapally medicines)
