Hello Friends,
Greetings.
Long back I planned a trip to Nellore and booked tickets. Of course
not sure till the moment I go. If at all I do not go to Nellore, I
will definitely be a part of the meeting.
By the way, Nellore trip is not a personal one but the group related
activity only.
I hope that all members in Hyderabad make it a point to attend the
meeting.
Also one important point, May 4th is World Thalassemia Day and on
that occasion Thalassemic Society is organizing a blood donation
camp and screening camp. The timings are from 10 am to 1 pm. If at
all some of us are interested to donate blood, pl. give them a
chance and consider the timings.
As we thought of campaigning for Thalassemia it would be good on our
part if we be there and donate blood.

Main Theme: OUR ROLE IN THE ELECTIONS :
TOWARDS POLLUTION FREE AND DISPLACEMENT FREE
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Dear Friends,
A severe crisis is facing the state and nation today. The
prices of essential commodities (especially food items, cement and
steel) have sky rocketed. The poor and middle classes are by and
large
very disturbed. To pacify them the ruling congress government has
been
announcing a series of populist welfare measures like waiver of out
standing agricultural loans in banks and societies, along with the
free power for agriculture, irrigating one crore acres under "Jala
Yajnam", Rice at Rs. 2/- per kg. for BPL families, housing and
pensions for aged, land distribution for the poor etc.
While the ruling party continues to announce a series of
welfare measures, the TRS is campaigning for a separate Telangana
state seriously. The TDP is concentrating on corruption in the state
and rising prices. Lok Satta has been focusing on decentralization,
good governance and prohibition. Chiranjeevi is still in a wait and
watch mood while the left parties have been raising the issue
of 'land
reforms'.
The problem of displacement of people under various
"development" schemes is growing rapidly day by day through out the
state and country. Migrations and suicides by farmers, artisans and
other / rural people are continuing at an increased pace! In such a
situation, how can we play an effective role towards raising critical
issues for building a pollution and displacement free society. More
specifically, what sort of effective role can we play in the
elections? On what issues do we concentrate? By we, we mean those
individuals and organizations who believe in and / or fighting for
alternate / sustainable solutions for the evils plaguing out society.
Towards this end NAPM, AP chapter is organizing a two day
workshop at the state level as part of its state level convention on
10-11 May, 2008 at OXFORD GRAMER SCHOOL, Street No: 1, Near TajMahal
Hotel, Himanat Nagar, Hyderabad. As a responsible citizen/
organization we request you to positively attend the two day workshop
and give your valuable suggestions and proposed role in this
challenging Endeavour.
Yours Sincerely,

Hi All,
Anil BVN met Mr. Govindarajulu who requested us for help regarding his son's (pradeep kumar) education on 28/04/08. Below are the details:
Name : Pradeep kumar
Father Name : Mr. Govindarajulu
Standard : Promoted to 8th.
Marks : 65%
School name : Amruta Bharthi Vidya Kendra, Hadagure.
School Fee : 6000/- annum includes books and school uniform
About the case:
Mr. Govindarajulu is a blind person who has 2 sons. The elder son is pursuing his diploma in Textile Engineering and his younger son, Pradeep Kumar, has been promoted to 8th Standard. Govindarajulu has asked us for the school fees of 6000/- for his younger son which includes books and uniform. The school reopens on May 26 and fees has to be paid by 1st week of May. As Govindarajulu has no job and is getting a Govt pension of 400rs, he has asked us for help for pradeep's education. The total family income is Rs. 2400 (2000 by his wife and 400 by govindarajulu). As English is compulsory for furthur studies, Govindarajulu has taken the decision of sending him to private school.
Bangalore members are interested to support for this case.
Anil collected Pradeep's last year progress card and it shows he is a first class student and informed the parents that we will be collecting the progress now and then for this year for record purpose only.
Hi Ravi,
When Arun and I sent the mails, few replied (few = at maximum, 10) stating that they are busy in either work or studying. Rest none replied back..
I am in for this idea..
Regards,
Vani.

I think its good idea....
Surely many will drop out but thats very fine..
Some suggestions,
1. The next time, any one joins the group, lets ask their phone number so that we can message them any thing important. We will not spam them for sure but phone number is compulsory and if possible let us cross check the number by calling them once, talk to them personally and then approve them. (No landline numbers please -this is for sms right)...If they are very busy guys they can give their preferable time or they can call us on any of our numbers from their given mobile number :))))
2. Only gmail id is accepted. If they dont have, let them create one. I need not add here the advantages of a gmail id for a group like ours :-D
3. Membership fee starts from their second month of joining and its also compulsory. First month is demo for them so free. Let them assess our group and decide to pay membership fee or not.
4. Take one more personal mail id to which we dont send daily mails but only news letter kind of things once in a month and very very important mails. May be remainders for meetings and remainders for membership fee or to requesting them to update their mobile number once we found that their number is not working for many days or when we wanted to delete their account in case :((((
5. Any more points to be added?? These are my suggestions but I wish these will be considered when you meet the next time for discussing on this.Actually we can discuss this online too but lets not use group id for this....
Add all active members ids and can continue this thread...
who are the 5 participants? :(((
We too postponed our activity( The only activity once in a month that too for three groups together...very Bad I know) to next weekend due to some problem.....But this is like a monthly meet for us...we r discussing many a thing there when we all meet at that home on the first sunday of every month. I already wrote abt that in my previous mail to grp.
oops..its already a lengthy one...

Hi,
I didn't get one point here. Why are we making membership fee as compulsory. Some may don't like to pay the fee instead want to take up a case and help it completely and more over our motto should be to reach as many as possible and aware them. I feel somehow if we introduce fee, then the no. of joinees will be decreased. And if we think this is to filter out the in active members, i probably won't like the idea as there is a chance that even an inactive member will do great help some times (recently one happened i believe).
Please correct me if i am wrong.
Thank you, Lalitha. From: ArunK <arunelr <at> gmail.com> |
