Friends,

We returned from our visit to Old Age Home. My heartfelt thanks to
Phanilalitha Jyothi garu for referring the article and to Eenadu
Ramakrushna garu who is always there to provide us the details.

The visit was very good indeed. Everyone of us felt very happy for
visiting the old age home. It is something like you are touched with
grief when you see and hear the plight of the old people. No one of
us dared to sit with those old people though we spoke with them and
we gave shake hand and wished them happy new year. Heard that an old
woman died yesterday. We have snaps and we will upload them in this
week.

Today two more members also visited. They are Lakshman and his
uncle. Lakshman works in a company that is related to Solar Power
Systems. We took his number and he said he can co-operate where his
help is required. He too visited the home after reading the article
in Eenadu.

We told to Naga Chandrika garu and also them about BOSF. We asked
her to give our contact details to any organizations or individuals
who are serious about social work.

Thank you, Dr. Sreenivas. In fact I wanted to request all participants
to share the feelings.

Yes. Going to a place on time is the biggest criteria. It is a pledge
that we should honor. I think all of us gathered on time only but we
couldn't reach because of other constraints.

---- Actually she asked me to visit after 11:30 am (it is in my mail
to the group) but I thought it would be late and lunch time and we
have to make plans accordingly. As most of us are awake till early in
the morning, we might not have spent time with interest.

1. Coming to spending time with people than with the management, yes,
we should plan accordingly. Anyway I feel that the first visit, most
of the time, ends up with understanding the management. The successive
visits we can spend time with the inmates as we kind of created a
rapport with the mgmt. and understand that they are genuine.

2. Yeah. It is always good to involve the inmates, spend time with
them and create some enjoyment to them. That is why we didn't end up
distributing fruits but bought them the suction device.

Your thoughts are good. Two points 100%. To implement these here, we
need to pay three to four visits. The old people here are too weak and
delicate and as Naga Chandrika Devi garu suggested, we can try to
motivate them to walk and take photos of them and try to bring some
life in their otherwise ordinary lives.

Friends,

Please suggest plans on how to deal with grannies. Of course I do have
lot of experience with my own grand parents, specially grand mothers.
As far as I am concerned, sitting with them and listenting to them are
the greatest gifts that we can offer.

But as these old people are almost in a dying state, we need a
strategy on how to make them happy. How to cheer them up.

Please come up with your ideas and suggestions. May be when you see
the photos you can understand and get an idea of the situation.

Hello Friends,

Greetings.

A very good mail in the new year. It is a very happy start indeed.

Some of you might be knowing Kumar Reddy. He is my second net
friend :). He is the founder of indiaeyewitness.com. He is very
interested in social work and has been supporting Child Aid Foundation
ever since he knew about it. He also supports our group. Earlier he
contributed for few of the medical cases. He knows how to prepare
idols with clay and he sells Ganesh Idols for Charity every year.

He is now interested to contribute 300$ to our group. Please go
through his mail.

We did make the Ganesh Idols charity sale this year as well and
collected around $700 in St. Louis with help of some friends. I will
be donating around $300/- for the Child Aid Foundation and around $300
to the MAD activities (I wish to use this money which helps a bigger
group like blind organizations, kids or elderly homes)

As per his wish I posted the details of the old age home to him. If he
is interested, may be we can support Prema Nilayam with his

For US members, you can visit his site, talktohome.com. He is very
busy with his other activities too. Otherwise he makes it a point to
keep in touch. His wife, Latha, is also very friendly. Those who
stay near his place can meet him. I will mail his number to all US
members. He is a good writer too. I used to like one of his poems a
lot. Every time I remember him, this is the poem that I get to think
of.

Through poems only we got to know each other by the comments that we
posted. He has been very supportive. The couple visited our TP
office for a meeting. I introduced him to Ratan. Vamsi couldn't meet
him. He came but left as he had to leave.

indiaeyewitness.com is his brain child. But I never supported him
seriously as I used to think that corruption is something that we
cannot fight. Gladly we have RTI now. That is a welcoming change. It
is upto us to utilize the act properly.

He sends a mail very rare may be once or twice in a year. But it is
full of warmth and whenever I receive his mail I feel very
nostalgic. I feel proud that I have so many good friends through
Internet. When I was very apprehensive of making friends over NET, I
made lot of good friends and I feel it is upto us on how to use the
NET in a good way.

Paparao garu also rang to me. He conveyed his wishes to all of us. Special mention to all those who visited him. I told him that I will ring to him in the night but coudln't as I slept in the evening itself.

It seems that he didn't get his money yet. Pending in Vijayawada. I gave him Sri Rahamtullah's (Deputy Collector, Vizag) contact details. Paparao garu didn't contact him.

We have to help him get his due from the govt. Will update you once I talk to them. My brother-in-law regularly visits Hyd and told that he can do any help pertaining to Vijayawada. Tatagaru is also there. So let us see how best we can help Paparao garu.
