{i} Bills for discussion in Indian Parliament including those on GM Crops, farmers, Lok Pal Bill

Friends,

In the current session of the Indian Parliament a number of Bills are likely to be discussed and passed like The Biotechnology Regulatory Authority of India Bill 2011, The Agriculture Bio-Security Bill 2011, The Seeds Bill 2004, The Pesticides Management Bill 2008, The Lok Pal Bill 2011, The National Food Security Bill 2011. All these Bills are listed below and highlighted in yellow background :-

Monsoon Session of the Indian Parliament to begin from Aug 1

Lok Pal Bill to be tabled, Whistleblower Bill not on agenda

Land Acquisition, Resettlement and Rehabilitation Bill unlikely to be tabled

By: ASHOK B SHARMA On: Fri 29 of July, 2011 13:49 UTC

New Delhi: The much debated Lok Pal Bill, 2011 is likely to be tabled by the third day of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament which begins from August 1. It would be tabled in the Lok Sabha.

The Whistleblower Bill is, however, not on the agenda.

Though the controversial Land Acquisition and Resettlement and Rehabilitation (LARR) Bill, 2011 is on the agenda, it is most unlikely that this Bill would be tabled in the Monsoon Session. The Union Ministry of Rural Development on Friday has placed this draft Bill in the public domain inviting suggestions and comments by August 31 and thereafter these comments would be reviewed. Therefore, as the Monsoon Session which is slated to conclude by September 8 there is less chances for this Bill to be tabled.

Addressing the media on Friday, the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Water Resources, Pawan Kumar Bansal said : “our endeavour will be to get the Lok Pal Bill passed in this session of the Parliament. But there is a process which involves referring the tabled Bill to the Standing Committee which deliberates on it over a stipulated period of time and sends it back to the House.”

The Monsoon Session, 2011 of Parliament will be the 8th session of the 15th Lok Sabha and the 223rd session of the Rajya Sabha. The Monsoon Session will provide 26 sittings spread over a period of 39 days.

The Session will mainly be devoted to essential Government legislative and other business, including financial business relating to Supplementary Demands for Grants for the year 2011-12 in respect of Railway and General Budgets.

The Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Bill, 2011 and The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kancheepuram Bill, 2001 will be tabled with the intention of replacing two Ordinances issued earlier by the government. Dear Friends,

Does mining need more regulation or less regulation?
Have deregulation of mining increased corruption?
Will the corruption associated with mining be addressed by one or two
officials or by respecting the rights of people and the laws such as PESA
and the Forest Rights Act?

These issues become vital in the context of the Mining Bill coming up in
the Parliament.

Please watch the debate.

*The UID project i**s going to do almost exactly the same thing which the
predecessors of Hitler did, else how is it that Germany always had the lists
of Jewish names even prior to the arrival of the Nazis? The Nazis got these
lists with the help of IBM which was in the 'census' business that included
racial census that entailed not only count the Jews but also identifying
them. At the United States Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC, there is an
exhibit of an IBM Hollerith D-11 card sorting machine that was responsible
for organising the census of 1933 that first identified the Jews.*
