In this case the mother plant was nothing but a piece of rhizome which sprouted  the plant pictured.

Chris!

Do you have more pics of this plant? The motherplant? or the "motherleaf"

Re: [Sansevierias] Time to fertilize

I was just telling someone I started using fish emulsion on my Sans, since I use it on the veggies and other stuff too. The Sans love it. Miraclo Gro is evil, I don't use it. LOL.

Re: [Sansevierias] Wild Collected TZ Sans pic

Is the top of the leaf smooth like wax , I have several clones of this plant.  I have one labeled as such #424 but smooth like wax with stratches of green lines on front and back?  It's from Abby Gardens and  20 years old.  S.    Elliptica came from the Huntington Gardens label?  changed recently from S. Horwoodii at the Advise of the San Journal.  I wish I had never relabeled my plants via the advise of the Journal.  Norma

Here is a pic of one of the plants brought back from TZ last year.

There’s been a lot of bantering back and forth about its identity.  Before it produced the offset many were convinced that it was Silver Blue (yes, the mother plant is very blue under the fertilizer residue).  Now seeing the offset the consensus is that it is probably S horwoodi.  But I’ve got several others from the same group with leaves resembling super-sized S horwoodi (up to 20” long and very thick).  I’m inclined to think that these belong in the barrel with Superclone and a bunch of others along the lines or in the group of S kirkii.

I’d appreciate hearing any thoughts.

Thanks,

Chris

Hermine, how is it going to add to your knowledge?    I love geriatrics, whether it's dogs, plants, people, whatever.   I love to do research and try new things to make life for the geriatrics around here as pleasant, healthy, and comfortable as possible, whether it's plants or animals.  I've learned from people in all walks of life.  But like I said, I can't prove in any way how old the plant is.  So that's every reason in the world not to care who believes it except for my own knowledge.  I'm not out to prove anything to anyone else.

I guess we can assume that Tarzana is fertile. If that is a young plant, say less that 5 years old, I am curious about what a mature leaf might look like.  Thanks for posting the photo.

Fish emulsion is a good natural way of killing scale. It smothers them to death. I learned this from a lady who grows organic oranges.

I was just telling someone I started using fish emulsion on my Sans, since I use it on the veggies and other stuff too. The Sans love it. Miraclo Gro is evil, I don't use it. LOL.

I think tomorrow is the day.
The morning fog isn't so thick anymore and the daytime temperatures
are getting up there.
The days are long, and the nights aren't cold.
It must be time to fertilize.
I've got 3 flavors of Miracle-Gro in the cupboard.
What N-P-K percentages does everyone prefer for trifasciatas?
