Re: Sans ballyi flower

That doesn't look etiolated to me Michael, it looks fine.  Some examples of
ballyi have longer leaves than others.  Cool little flower spike.

My first thought on the purple cataphyll was masoniana, but I can't verify if
grandis has the same or not.  I had some masoniana-like Sans from Alice W,
and when new leaves came up with the exact same purple sheath as
my other masonianas, I relabeled them all with masoniana.  Maybe a mistake on my part
since now I don't know which ones they were.  None have bloomed, but
outwardly they looked exactly like masoniana.

More research.

Re: S. canaliculata

It's been raining all day or I'd go out back and check for flowers.

I'm looking forward to some canaliculata flowers myself.  Is this a current photo?

Here is S. canaliculata in flower. As I suggested you might think
earlier... big whoop-de-do.

Just wondering . . .  has anybody made a list of which months (season) sans species tend to flower? Or perhaps just know they flower when they feel like it?

Mike,

Nice plant, and nice photo! That's tiny flower for such a big plant.

Yes.  Click "Database" for this forum. It appears at the bottom of every message on my screen.  Then click the obvious hot link.  All are arranged alphabetically for your inspection, Major.

This is a very interesting and large data base.  Nothing can be inferred from it.  Also, there are some very old names here,... I mean the names are not old, but rather the people are.

Re: Speaking of purple...

Tata, sometimes Yahoo rejects large files. I try to keep mine under 100 KB and 5" X 5" seems to fit pretty good.

attaching files or Photos

Tata,

The limit is 1 MB, but all of the junk yahoo attaches adds about 200Kb.  Aim low and if necessary use a couple of messages.

You can also put things in the files of Albums sections of the yahoo list site. It's pretty easy to use.
