I believe there are plenty of people using SRSS with Ubuntu or Debian,
myself included. However, you'll find that most of us take a more
conservative approach to our upgrades. For instance, I have had two SRSS
servers running Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 LTS for at least three years now. I am
almost ready to replace them with two newer systems running Ubuntu Lucid
10.04 LTS which will mostly likely see another three years of use. The
Linux distributions that SRSS does officially support are no different and
are based around long-term production stability.

Deploying on a release like 11.10, while nifty for the newer packages and
overall desktop experience, doesn't make for a good production
environment. I doubt anyone in the community really wants to put effort

We are having the same behaviour with both LibreOffice 3.4.3 and LibreOffice
3.3.4 after upgrading to SRSS 5.2.3 on OEL 5.7. First everything worked OK

Hi Friends,

Thanks

Re: Sunray DTU firmware_gui upgrade

Please read the documentation. The SRSS with VDI 3.3+ now uses a single
image for firmware. New -G or -g options used with utfwadm to control
enabling or disabling the GUI.

Re: Sunray DTU firmware_gui upgrade

utfwadm -A -a -N all -f /opt/SUNWut/lib/firmware -G none (there are some other options for -G, I just -G
none, where I can enable the GUI with stop-s or stop-m as before)

does this job now, I was also quite confused when this was introduced. It should create the file SunRay.enableGUI.

Re: SRS 5.2.3 + LibreOffice 3.4.3 Showing Menu's as __

We're seeing the same thing with our openoffice packages on our RHEL 5
servers running SRSS 5.2.3. We were able to confirm it was the upgrade
to SRSS 5.2.3 that caused the change by confirming open office menus
looked good, upgrading SRSS from 5.2.1 to 5.2.3, and seeing the text in
the openoffice menus was then all dashes/underlines. We tried
uninstalling and reinstalling open office just in case it was a file
issue, but to no avail.

I submitted a ticket with Oracle this morning, but I am interested if
anyone else has found a fix in the meantime.

I'll let the list know what I learn from Oracle,
Erin

It seems to be related to antialiasing.

You can deactivate it in LibreOffice (Tools->Options->View) or in the desktop
session.

Firefox 7 sluggish

Having upgraded to Firefox 7 on RHEL 5.6 we've noticed that it is very sluggish. This is very noticeable when it comes to text input.

Have any other Sun Ray users noticed this issue? Any workarounds other than going back to FF 5?

I'm experiencing extreme sluggishness with Firefox 6 and 7 on Sun Ray desktops running under OpenSolaris.
I haven't tested it on Solaris 10 yet.
