srss 5.4 and multiple GDM

I/m currently running the latest SRSS 5.4 on RHEL6 64-bit and noticing some weird issues.  I'm not sure if this is normal or indicating something is afoot.

1. If I log into a single sunray as a user, this user shows up three times when running w from the terminal.  (one instance is a gnome-session) and two others are for gdm-simple-slave.  Does anyone else have this issue.  The user is simply logged in and not running a single thing on the session, just sitting at a default desktop.

2. Every time a user logs in via SunRay the messages log barks about kiosk, even though I don't use this and it is NOT enabled.  The message below is what the log shows:

Xstartup[23793]: Error: Kiosk is not enabled for display ''

3. And finally everytime a user loges in to SunRay I see this as well in messages log:

WARNING: GSIdleMonitor: IDLETIME counter not found

I was just wondering if these were "normal" errors or indicate an issue.  I ask because there are a few times where a SunRay device will be stuck on code 26D and the only way to clear it is to pkill gdm on the host (disruptive to all sessions to clear a single Sunray session).

OL 6.3 autofs problems

Just FYI.

autofs was crashing and not mounting home dirs. The only way to fix it
was rebooting the SR server.

It seems that updating autofs fixes the problem
yum install
http://public-yum.oracle.com/repo/OracleLinux/OL6/latest/x86_64/autofs-5.0.5-55.el6_3.x86_64.rpm

there is a similar update for ol6.4 in that directory too.

Question about configuring printers for use with Windows Clients (Solaris 11)

While I have a network running with Solaris 10/SRS 5.3, I am trying to
get SRS 5.4 installed on a new Solaris 11 server. I've managed to get
everything working, except for printing.

In Solaris 10, we used lpadmin to add printers (and dymo label makers -
raw devices), then we could import them into the Windows uttsc session.

It looks like Solaris 11 printing has changed enough (now CUPS), that
this doesn't work anymore. I've gone through all of the docs, but they
all point to Solaris 10 CLI methods to add printers, nothing for 11.

Does anybody have any guidance on this?

Thanks!

unable to start SRSS 5.4 on OL 6.3

hello all,

i have troubles to run SRSS 5.4. First i tried with CentOS, it worked
but with pitfalls, so i decided to use OL 6.3.
I followed the document to do it. Strangely, the utsetup script doesn't
configure eth1 nor start the dhcp, but i can start them manually.
The problem i have, now, after many reboots, is that authd is not running:
[root <at> pelagie ~]# /opt/SUNWut/sbin/utcapture
# TERMINALID TIMESTAMP TOTAL PACKET TOTAL LOSS BYTES SENT
PERCENT LOSS LATENCY
Authentication Manager timeout
Authentication Manager timeout
Authentication Manager timeout

[root <at> pelagie ~]# /opt/SUNWut/sbin/utsession -p

Token ID Registered Name Unix ID Disp State
------------------------------ -------------------- ---------- ---- -----
Payflex.500f950000130100 ??? ??? 12 D

in /var/opt/SUNWut/log/messages:
Jun 12 11:16:54 pelagie utsession: getAuthMgrRecords(): poll timed out
Jun 12 11:16:54 pelagie utsession: set_state(): failed to contact authd
(Authentication Manager timeout)

but manually doing:
[root <at> pelagie ~]# /etc/init.d/utsvc start
stopping authentication manager
starting authentication manager
is ok:
root 3388 3.1 0.0 437788 24052 pts/0 Sl 11:18 0:00
/etc/opt/SUNWut/jre/bin/java -client auth.utauthd.utauthd

even if the DTU displays 27D

i see also:
Jun 12 11:19:32 pelagie utauthd: Worker7 NOTICE:
lockSessionFile(/var/opt/SUNWut/tokens/Payflex/500f950000130100): failed

Jun 12 11:19:32 pelagie utauthd: Worker7 NOTICE:

thanks in advance for help,

Getting some Panned Desktops with SR 5.4

Anyone getting panned desktops with SR 5.4 and OL 6.3?

I have a SR 1 with an older monitor that did not pan with SR 5.2 and OL
5.6 but does pan on SR 5.4 and OL 6.3.

unable to log in with qwerty keyboard (SRSS 5.4 + CentOS 6.4)

hello all,
i've installed CentOS 6.4 and SRSS 5.4. Everything seems ok except the
following behaviour:
- with sun keyboard type 7, i can't login
- replacing the keyboard with a french one (sun type 6), i can log in
(same DTU).
- after logged in, i swap keyboards, and the qwerty keyboard is ok

I typed the paswword in the username field, and the characters echoed
are ok.

in /var/secure/log, i got:
Jun 5 14:42:47 server gdm-session-worker[14393]: pam_unix(gdm:auth):
authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty=:11 ruser= rhost=
user=ghenry

if anybody can help?

SR 5.4, firmware GUI won't appear in SunRay 2FS

I've just updated to Solaris 11.1 and SR 5.4.

So I tried updating the firmware on some SunRays I have. The SunRay 3
and 3+'s updated fine, no problems, firmware GUI is present. However,
the SunRay 2FS units updated the firmware, but the firmware GUI is no
longer available. I even tracked down the params files for the units
and found that EnableGUI=force is set in this file, but no GUI appears
on the 2FS units.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Nuts & Bolts

Somebody has an idea, how can I

1.)    remove –r scard:on from the kiosk

my default kiosk looks like the following

root <at> srss02 <> : /download > utkiosk -e session

KIOSK_SESSION=uttsc

KIOSK_SESSION_TIMEOUT_DETACHED=12000

KIOSK_SESSION_ARGS=-t 300 -- -l de_DE -E wallpaper -E theming -E fontsmoothing -r scard:on ts2008

KIOSK_ENABLED=yes

If the token is pseudo.* I would like to remove automatically –r scard:on to run just a plain user/pass login without smartcard support. I was thinking of tweaking /etc/opt/SUNWkio/session/uttsc/uttsc

2.)    Loadbalancer with username

How can I get the username out of the token, so I can start a customized uttsc which can be honored by the load balancer.

root <at> host <> : /var/opt/SUNWut/log > utsession -p

Token ID                       Registered Name      Unix ID    Disp State

------------------------------ -------------------- ---------- ---- -----

Athena-ASEPCOS.0c0754805125190e fuerle               utku12     36   C

something like uttsc –u $UTUSER ts2008
