Re: anybody running clustered redhat?

Sorry man, My laptop died on saturday night.

Here is quick/steps to setup/configure ocfs2 cluster with OEL and Redhat,
SLES.

PRE Instalation requirements.
1. Private interconnect - configure before you setup cluster - Like in Solaris
cluster
installation/configuraiton takes care of interconnect setup. Here we have
to setup ahead.
Private interconnect is recommendation by Oracle RAC for better performace
or
you can use public ip too.
2. Shared devices (supported iscsi/san)
3. Make sure ocfs2 rpm's installed use this command to query - rpm -qa |grep
ocfs
4. ocfs2 kernel rpm, console rpm and tools rpm is important.

Post installation and Configuration,

Run GUI to setup/configure ocfs2
# Ocfs2console

With ocfs setup provide private interconnect ip's and specify public
hostname.
select Cluster + Configure node and select add buttion to specity hostname and
private ip.
Here is location for conf file and example. Or you can create manually these
file on both nodes.

Have a look at the "Clustering Virtual Machines and Applications with
Red Hat Enterprise Linux" presentation at http://people.redhat.com/tcameron/

I'm more than happy to offer any assistance I can. Please e-mail me
directly as I only check lists infrequently.

Error: Can't open display: unix:X11

Hi,
I have upgraded our Citrix server from Solaris 9 to 10 U8 on my V490 and
install all patches from Dec/01/09
A few of my users after a week of usage are seeing "Error: Can't open
display: unix:X??" where ?? is there display number.
If I change the DISPLAY environment :-
setenv DISPLAY localhost:11.0
They can now start new X applications.
If I set DISPLAY back to unix:11.0 they can't start new X applications
The socket perms are the same as other users:-
 > ls -l /tmp/.X11-unix/X11
srwxrwxrwx 1 root ctxadm 0 Feb 26 13:45 /tmp/.X11-unix/X11=
my /etc/system is :-
***********************************************************************
 set maxuprc=1024
***********************************************************************
* GigaBit fixes
set sq_max_size=200
***********************************************************************
set rlim_fd_max = 1024
set rlim_fd_cur = 256

zfs set userquota not working on upgraded zfs dataset

Hi all,

I recently applied patches to a Solaris 10 environment and upgraded
my zpool and zfs to version 14 and 5 respectively so I could use
user-based disk quotas.

When I try to apply the quota on an existing zfs dataset, it doesn't
do anything. If I create a new dataset and apply it, it works. Does
anyone know how to get it to work on an existing dataset? Here is the
output from my attempt showing how it only seems to work on new
datasets:

# zfs list
NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT
data 50.7G 145G 50.7G /data
# zpool upgrade
This system is currently running ZFS pool version 15.

All pools are formatted using this version.
# zfs upgrade
This system is currently running ZFS filesystem version 4.

All filesystems are formatted with the current version.
# zfs set userquota <at> user1=50G data
# zfs get userquota <at> user1 data
NAME PROPERTY VALUE SOURCE
data userquota <at> user1 - -
# zfs create data/test
# zfs set userquota <at> user1=50G data/test
# zfs get userquota <at> user1 data/test

Oracle: The rot continues...

Solaris 10 is no longer free for unlimited unsupported use, apparently.

http://www.cuddletech.com/blog/pivot/entry.php?id=1120

It's only a blog entry, I know. But I have checked the Solaris lisence, and sure enough 'Evaluation' is now
permitted for free for 90 days only.

Quaint, huh?
