Basically, it breaks down like this: CAT5 is rated upto 100Mbps CAT5e is rated upto 1000Mbps CAT6 not sure, but if you want minimal packet loss etc at 1000Mbps, this is the way to go. This is the cable rating btw, in case you don't know.
